I know that when I was looking at the extras on the DS9 DVDs, they showed a few things like that for the intro of the space station.

I'm almost 100% certain that it's Mr. Mott.

I always loved that part of the intro. Somehow, I always saw that person, but never really noticed them, if you know what I mean.

That's awesome.....!!! Gotta wonder who it was.....maybe just the night cleaning crew...???  Good one though!!

I noticed the person in the lounge back when the show aired but after seeing the HD over and over I'm thinking it's just a shadow.  Or it was just a shadow put in by ILM originally to look like people in the lounge.  The HD transfer is bringing out the limitations of 25 year old CGI.  Then again, why couldn't they fix it and add real people to the lounge?

For now we'll just have to assume it's the shadow man from Identity Crisis.

I saw that... being from the start but i never really thought about it, just an animation in there to make the Enterprise feel more.. 'inhabited' i suppose..

Back in the eighties when this show first aired, I seem to recall hearing about this being intentionally put there- I've known about it for the last 25 years.

I thought everyone knew about this. I read in a 'making of' book somewhere that it is was put in to make the Enterprise seem like it was more than just a big model. It's a really nice touch. They shoulda done something similar with DS9 and Voyager.

I didn't think they were using CGI in 1987.

Before now I may only have noticed that subliminally. My TV has always been too small and the picture quality too low. I'm surprised that ILM would have made the effort.

I know for sure that the Voyager model was built with an entire miniature mess hall behind the windows, but I figured that was only possible with the different scale -- the Entperprise being much bigger than Voyager.
