Admiral You is ordered to commision a ship with the best of the best for the most important mission in the history of the universe. Who's your captain? Who'll be their first officer? They're going to need a doctor, an engineer, a chief of security, and someone to pilot the starship... Speaking of the starship, what ship would want to send them off in? For the sake of argument, we'll ignore the fact that 2 of the shows took place in a completely seperate time period (although I cant imagine you'd want to send in either of the first two Enterprises over TNG, Voyager, or the Defiant)

OK, i've givin it some thought and here it goes... i gotta take Archer as captain, he did the most with the least, he boldly went where no man has gone before any time he went anywhere, and almost everyone he met was a first contact. Riker may be number one, but I'd take Spock over Will, mainly because I feel every ship should have a vulcan on board.   Bashir as the doctor, gotta love those genetic enhancements.  I'll take Odo over Tuvok, they both get the job done, but shapeshifter > vulcan any day.  Data would be working the helm, no contest.  Laforge was gonna be my choice for engineer, but after some thought, I decided to go with Torres in the end, mainly because I would plan to send them out in Voyager (assuming that it has all the enhancements that future janeway had installed in the final episode)  Well, that would be my crew, what do u think?

My list will be a little bit longer as I believe certain jobs should be split up.  Having one person as both tactical & security in a story where boarding parties can teleport in necessitating both roles to be done simultaneously, and often has department heads leaving the ship just doesn't make much sense to me.

Captain & First Officer:  either Archer & Riker or Riker & Chakotay

Science:  Data

Engineer:  either Scott or Tucker

Operations:  Kim

Medical:  Crusher with EMH backup

Security/Tactical:  Yar (ship)  Hayes (away team), O'Brien (tactical) (of course, this also provides another excellent engineer)

Communications:  Sato

Helm:  Sulu (ship)  Paris (shuttle)

i love the fact that hoshi got enlisted before troi, i didn't even consider an away team, that could probably be a whole seperate topic on its own... data, odo, and a random red shirt for the ritual away mission sacrifice lol

Yeah, it is a problem of dealing with such a small group of characters that the department heads are frequently off the ship.  With the tactical/security jobs already being 2 jobs that overlap, and that person perhaps being on the wrong side of the shields when the attack happens, it just compounds the problem.  Also, helm & shuttle piloting should be 2 different skills.  I realize they would be more similar than current navy conn & helicopter or fighter pilot, but they should be treated as 2 different skills.  The way they do it in the series is that in most cases, to have the best pilot, they have to have the second best helm.

Hmm ... interesting question ...

Captain: Janeway (she has experience getting her crew through some HAIRY AND HOSTILE situations and battles knowing that they were on their own)

Commander: Kira Nerys (she is a tried and true warrior used to fighting when all of the cards ar stacked against her)

Operations: Data (do the math ...)

Doctor: the holographic doctor from Voyager, can't recall his name right now (he is artificial intelligence, a vast database of human and non-human species, not prone to human failings ...)

Chief of Engineer Miles O'Brien (do the math ...)

Pilot Hikaru Sulu ("Excellent flying, Sulu!")

Chief of Security Worf (do the math ...)

Ship: USS Prometheus (See Data base)

Mission Commander: Admiral Janeway

Captain: Riker

First Officer:Tuvok

Tactical:Worf

Security: Odo

Ops: Data

Engineer: Torres

Helm: Paris

Doctor: Bashir and an EMH back up, either the original doc from Voyager, or newest EMH model if he is unavailable.

Ships Counselor: Troi

Astrometrics lab/assistant in sick bay Seven of Nine

Mission advisor Ambassador Spock (Still seeking to reunite the Vulcans and Romulans)

Mission: Maintain peace at the Romulan Neutral Zone. After events of the Nemesis movie, relations begin with ROmulus, meaning battling surviving Reman insurgents, as well as factions of Romulans that do not wish to make peace with the Federation. And as Romulan space is fairly unknown to them, who else will they run into?

Overview: Vulcan masters, Klingons, a Borg, an android, an empath, an experimental ship that splits into 3 battle ships, and a whole new part of the galaxy never explored by the Federation. This is a ship and crew that is near invincible, and it will have to be for battling the Remans on their own turf, as well as the T'al Shiar, who are not happy with recent visits by the Enterprise crew. This is a ship and crew that could take on any mission, any opponent, and stand a chance of victory.

Garak. Having an expert tailor, assassin, and spy could prove most useful. And we'd have the best looking uniforms ever.

Holo emitters all over the ship for back up EMH to more easily reach and treat wounded crew. Back up holographic nurses to help EMH and other medical staff.

If I'm going to bring Hoshi in fro the past, I may as well bring T'pol, Spock and Tuvok could train her, remember, in her time mind melds and other mental disciplines are forbidden. This could also play into the Temporal cold war sub plot. possibly trying to alter history under the tutelage of Spock, remember, he cheats a little, a trick he learned from his old friend Kirk.
