I'd say the Federations Quantum Slipstream drive matches if not exceedes the Empires hyperdrive......

I agree, although they never managed to get it working properly.

In the shows no they didn't.... (I know it's not canon but it the books they do manage to get it working) anyways it's a logicial conclusion to think that eventually they'll get it working..... I mean considering all the resocuces that voyager didn't have access to it's noo suprise that it didn't work.... I bet if the idea had come from the Starfleets Science Division the Idea wouldv'e worked

How can it be said that the DS "is covered in weapons that with one shot kill a cube," when single man fighters (x-wings) didn't start getting hit by any weapons until they were flying down the trenchs, meters from the surface?

Yes, the Empire may have an advantage in clones, however EACH Borg can assimilate at least one or two clones before they might get knocked down, or their personal shield is down, in which case, the next borg's shield stays up, and he assimilates one or two more than the previous borg...2 new assimilated clones assimilate 4, 4 assimilate 8, and so on...I'm sure the clone factories can't make them faster then the borg can assimilate. Once the borg assimilate the tech of the DS, its over..then they have weaknesses of each ship in their fleet, have info on the Emperor and Vader. The shields of the Borg cube could adapt to the lasers of the TIEs, and the DS itself has to charge its batteries to fire their planet buster for 24 hours according to the SW wiki...Seriously, one super shot every day??! Does a SW fan really think it could happen, oh..the DS can move FTL yes, but not thru a planetary system..see SW:ANH, and the Borg can engage at FTL (Warp speed).

It depends how long that "eventually" is...

I possibly disagree; Starfleet weren't anywhere near quantum slipstream technology, so them perfecting it in any appreciable timeframe might be a bit optimistic.

Heavy turbolaser aren't designed to be used against fighters; they were finding it next to impossible to hit the fighters even when they were near the surface, let alone at any greater ranges.

I think the main issue here is not so much ground combat but the issues the Borg will have in space combat; heavy turbolasers can bring a weight of firepower in excess to what Borg adaptive shielding is capable of withstanding, and ground invasions are difficult if your ships are destroyed before a ground incursion takes place.

There's also the issue that the Empire may well simply sterilise from orbit (or even destroy) any Borg controlled worlds rather than waste resources trying to repel them on the ground.

The other problem is the timescale; the Borg have had centuries to conquer their native galaxy, yet despite being more technologically advanced than the majority of its races have still only managed to carve out a slice of the Delta Quadrant. The Star Wars galaxy conversely is bigger than the Milky Way and contains a civilisation spanning two-thirds of the galaxy which posseses greater firepower and power generation technology than them; I can't see them making any significant progress in any appreciable timescale.

Once the borg assimilate the tech of the DS, its over..then they have weaknesses of each ship in their fleet, have info on the Emperor and Vader. I don't think they can do much against the Death Star at their current level of technology; they've got all of the problems that they would encounter against regular Imperial ships of the line coupled with the thing being moon-sized and having a planet destroying superlaser (which can be fired at Cubes using significantly less than full power, allowing it to fire more than once per day before needing to be recharged).

DMJ is back!!!

First let me say that the Borg would wipe out the Empire!  Here's why;

1.  The Empire was very young and inexperienced, The Empire was only around for approx. 25 years and lost their only war.  The Borg has been around for anywhere from 850 - thousands of years, and are still around even after getting it's butt kicked by S8472 and the Federation.  Yes the Empire was around after Endor but the Republic rellegated them to 3 systems.

2.  In respect to numbers of troops, the Empire may have more but as it has been shown, the Borg would assimilate entire units and it would soon outnumber the Empire, plus the added feature of once a clone is assimilated everything that clone knows, training, tactics, weaknesses, strengths woould then be passed on to the entire Collective.

3.  Force users;  Yes the Empire definately has the upper hand here, until....  The Borg assimilate one of them.  And with canon working for me here I will prove that the Empire would be toast.  According to Qui-Gon Jinn the Midi-chlorians are in EVERY living cell, proved by the fact that there are many different species that are force users.  The Borg are made up of Cybernetics and Living tissue, therefore the Borg have Midi-Chlorians in them, they obviously do not know how to use them to control the Force.  Once one of the Force users has been assimilated the entire Collective would then become Force Users because everything that user knew would then be passed on to the rest of the Collective.

4.  Ships;  Yes the Empire has the DS, however I believe that the Collective would eventually adapt even to that weapon, mainly since it is energy based, however I think it would wipe out a giant protion of the Collective doing so.  TLs are meaningless to the Borg, they would adapt and that would be that.  Now with the DS, it depends on which one we are talking about here, the first DS couldn't fire on Cap ships, but the second one could, nevertheless the area to where the Superlaser could shoot on the ships is not all-encompassing, the Borg would over-whelm the DS and the ships coming from behind would be safe from the SL.  Plus if it was the second DS then there are entire sections that are open to space the Brog have a free pass right there to board the DS and assimilate it from the inside out.

A Borg Cube is just as big as a SD, plus the Borg have Tactical Cubes which are far more powerful than standard cubes.

 5.  other Borg advantages over the Empire;  Borg have Transporters, adaptation, able to survive in open space, able to pass through shields with no problem, The Empire has crappy leadership and wouldn't know what to do against the Borg.

DMJ lives on!!!
