I'd love to see the Star Trek Animated series "re-animated" using the "original audio" and sound track. All Paramount would have to do is to make new animation. Imagine all new episodes of Star Trek with the voices of the original cast.

Let's ask for this Star Trek: Re Animated

yeah I think they use the same animation for every episode. you could tell because spock always look at the screen and looks at kirk in every episode! the only diffrence is that what he is saying is diffrent so his lips move to the words. I always kinda wanted a star trek anime

Anime, pure digital, whatever animation would be fine, just something updated and sophisticate to do justice to the original stories and voice performances.

Me too - after all some of the plots and dialogue are a bit cheesy too, it all fits as a package - you just have to take it as it is

1. Paramount hardly even acknowledges this series as is. It took them FOREVER to finally release it on DVD. I don't think we could convince them to do anything with it.

2. As far as a full reanimation using both the original audio and soundtrack may not be be a legal possibility. The soundtrack may be owned by the animation company to made these as they also used the same music in their other cartoons.

However, I believe that doing something with them is in order. After all they have redone the others and also made them into HD. Maybe just smooth these out a little and makd them more animated rather than as choppy as they are now.

CBS owns every part of the animated series as Filmation hasnt existed since 1989, and the rights to the star trek series were sold to Paramount - which is now CBS in part.

If they wanted to do new animation, they'd be smart to do a brand new series instead of animating over excellent 70s saturday morning work by american animators. It'd be an insult, in my opinion. There is no reason for re-doing this wonderful work.

Filmation was the last studio to still train animators, editors, directors, layout people, colorists, writers, etc. in the field in the USA...All of their work is worthy of reverence and love.

Has anyone seen the 'new' TAS series? Its a fan-made production but they're in the style of the old animated series, I think the starship Frragut is the ship in these. I just checked, yup...

I would love to see that! It seems to me that it would be akin to what they did with TOS, which I think improved the series immensely. And as for it being an insult to the animators, if you look at it that way, then the re-dos of TOS would be an insult to all the people that worked long and hard to make all the exterior shots of the Enterprise and to animate (or whatever) the phaser beams and things like that into the episodes. I don't think it would be seen as an insult, merely a move who's time has come and something that is long overdue.

Ahh, Kirk, my old friend. Do you know the Klingon proverb which tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold? It's very cold....in space.

I would like to see a new animated Trek myself, perhaps set in the TNG/DS9/VOY Era. Star Wars has a new cartoon, why not us?

This would be awesome. New modern animation over the classic voices. I would watch this (and buy it) in a second.

Animation series CGI simuliar to "Star Wars: The Clone Wars".  Design the Enterprise like this image http://www.treknology.org/future1.htm Peception Class. The story could be based on TNG re-imaged. Takes place 100 years from (Star Trek 2009). It would be awesome story telling.

I think they should leave it as it is. After all it won an Emmy as best children's show and it was LIGHT YEARS ahead of the drek that was on at the time (I was 14 and ST-TAS was the only Sarurday morning show I could stand by then-except Warner Bros cartoon reruns). I would not be opposed to NEW stories ala Star Wars The Clone Wars, BUT they would have to be done in the style of the original series-not JJ Abrams' movies.

I wouldn't say they would need to get rid of the old version. The Remastered TOS Blu-Rays, for example, have both versions. This would work the same way. You could choose which version to watch.

I'm positive they'd never do this, but imagine if CBS allowed a fan production of it? Give them the audio and say LLAP. As sophisticated as fan films are getting these days, I'm sure they'd do a good job.

I mean, at the very least, somebody with a copy of Flash could at least mimic the old style, but have better animation...

Phil
