Do you mean if/when  the actors pass on will the spirit/intrigue die with them? If so then no -  I think the legend will only grow stronger in memoriam of.

Lose faith? Not if the fandom for other dead performers is any precedent.

Let's see.....

Roy Rogers has been dead for a while. People still like him.

John Wayne has been dead for a long time. People still like him.

Elvis has been dead for over 40 years. People still like him.

Therefore, it is only reasonable to assume that when the main actors from TOS are dead, people will still like TOS.

There is more to Star Trek than just the actors. JMHO.

People will still love Star Trek even when all the origianl actors are gone because people love the storie, not the actors.

With all the newer series and the new movies, it will be a long time before all the Star Trek actors are gone.

I don't think the actors dying will have much of any effect on whether people like Trek or not. The actors may shuffle off this mortal coil, but the characters we know and love will never die, even if the script says they do. They will live forever, because they are on film, so we can watch them over and over. Again and again and again. To quote the immortal Shakespeare: "So long as men can breathe and eyes can see, so long lives this and this gives life to thee."

Dr.McCoy is personally my favourite actor, and he passed away whe I was too young to know what the Enterprise was, yet since he's gone I've cherished his character even more. His lovable attitude and humerous hatrid towards spock brought me into TOS as well as many other movies he starred int. De left a legecy that I will never forget and soon many of the original cast will pass away as they grow into old age, and leave a wonderful legecy of their own. ( and God only knows what type of a legecy Shatner will leave... that man is 81 and still working )

Like someone said above about John Wayne, I love a lot of his movies and he was gone before I was even born. It is all about what they do as their legacy of sorts rather than if they are alive or not. Look at I Love Lucy that show is still great after all these years.

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?
