caltrek: Interesting comment.


1) Another argument for encouraging kids to participate in art programs rather than to dismiss their creative efforts as unwanted graffiti.


 


2) In the modern age, distracted as we are by urban lightshows, bars, TV, etc., it is easy to forget how important the stars must have been to pre-historic man. So it only makes sense that it would have shown up in their "graffiti". I suppose that one cannot completely dismiss the possibility that the marks symbolized something else though, like a primitive attempt at counting and keeping track of some number of some type of special events.
