Trek fans showed how unloyal they can be when they let Enterprise basically get cancelled due to poor ratings. They should have stuck with the series and given it a good chance to develop ( season 3/4 were VERY good)....its all about money with these studios. Why woudl they risk another series when they see the results of the last one they tried..

ENT died because of franchise fatigue. Trek had been running non-stop since 1987, and with VOY's reviews being the way they were at the end, fans gave up on ENT way too quickly when it wasn't amazing at the very beginning. Apparently they didn't remember that ALL the series sucked for the first two seasons (with the possible exception of TOS).

No, Star Trek isn't dead. We have the new movie, and although that's the only thing that's happening with the franchise right now, I think that's a good thing. I know many people who are eagerly awaiting the next movie.

As for a new series, I don't think one will come along until after the new movies are finished. By that time, there should be enough fans and interest to make a new series possible.

This break in between movies and a new series is what the franchise needs.

Well said! The answer isn't "MORE STAR TREK." That nearly killed the franchise a decade ago.

I think they are wise to be properly spacing potential TV and movie offerings out...so people don't get tired of it.

Star Trek will not die until people stop discussing it, writing about it, roleplaying it, making videos about it.... We might only have the new movie from Paramount recently -- and that has brought in so many fans -- but even if your new series never comes, Star Trek is still very much alive.

Not many by the looks of things.

But that's true -- it had been running for a long, long time at that point. The quality of the show wasn't suffering for it, but people's interest was. The powers that be needed to take a breather from Star Trek and cancelling Enterprise was a bummer, but they are doing the right thing now to have a break between series.

Agreed. Hopefully we'll see another series in the future, but I doubt it'll come along until a few years after ST13.

Hi,

I know this is old news...

I'll believe it when I see it. Trouble is that there is a lot of maneouvring that has to happen between someone's initial idea and actually seeing a show on telly. That's not to say it won't happen -- but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for rumours to come to pass.
