I have been a long time ST fan as far back as I can remember. The original series movies along with TNG and DS9 will always take me back to the glory days of Star Trek. I sit here, log on this site, flip through it only to log out disappointed. No newsworthy news.
I often think what in the world is CBS doing with this franchise? Hardly any website updates, No plans of a new series, projects and conventions seem to be getting rare. Anyways, does CBS plan on doing anything with Star Trek?
Oh, yea I know there is a new movie on the horizon...but comon, there has to be something better than a rehash of Kirk and Spock?

Since nothing in the franchise has been better than Kirk and Spock, "re-hash" or otherwise, why would you expect something else "on the horizon" to be better?
There are no other Trek projects in the works, nor should there be. The last film (the "rehash," apparently) was more successful than any of the other films ever released in terms of box office sales and critical response. When you combine that with the fact that having too much Trek at once nearly killed the franchise already...I think it becomes clear that "MORE TREK" is not the answer.
Also, did you take the time to notice that there's literally 3-5 posts every week on this message board about "a new Star Trek" just like this one? You probably could have added your thoughts to any one of those threads rather than starting yet another one.

They will undoubtedly add on to the franchise...not doing so would be a waste. The question is, what form will the expansions take? The reboot movies hold up for nostalgia value only. In my mind, DS9 was much better developed than TOS or any of the others in terms of character development, storylines, memorable recurring characters, and themes.
That's just my opinion, of course. I'm certain that we'll see more Trek in the future. I just hope that it relies on more than nostalgia for success.

There's always hope, but just not much of it nowadays.

Well, take it from Guinan: "If a man is convinced he's gonna die tomorrow, he'll probably find some way to make it happen." As long as there are Trek fans, they'll continue to expand this remarkable franchise that's endured for fifty-three years.

Put simply...
The existing Trek is good. New Trek probably wouldn't be bad. But even without it, no wurries.
Of course there's always "hope" that it would be revived. I mean look at some of the stuff that's undergone "revival" these days!
I'd still rather they wait until they can come up with something of solidly good quality, rather than have it now but without a new Trek being ready to show.

^ Yes. Quite a few people in Hollywood are Trek fans. Bryan Singer and Seth MacFarlane have both expressed their willingness to produce a new Star Trek. It is a matter of bridging that point between someone being interested, and someone actually bringing it to the screen. Unfortunately, that is a long bridge to cross, but not insurmountable. It could still happen.

hmm.... That would depend on who they are at any given moment. I don't think this would be a particularly bad blow for the chances at a new Star Trek series, however, should someone come along with a solid pitch for one.

The franchise isn't dead given how popular the reboot was/is we just need to get back to the quality stories from TOS, TNG, DS9, and the second half of Enterprise.
