The guy had the Romulan Senator Vreenak killed just to get the Romulans involved in the Dominion war. Weak? I don't think so. Strong patriot? You bet.

^ Well, he didn't really order Vreenak killed. Garak did that on his own.

Benjamin Sisko was one of the bravest, smartest and goodwilled capitans of any Trek series.

How could anyone even think Sisko was a weak captain? On his own or compared to the others? He punched Q! How much more bad can you get than that? As for the others...

Jonathan Archer... the Vulcanchondriac who reguarlly got beaten like a pinatta every other episode?

Kathryn Janeway... let's face it. She didn't do female sterotypes any favors by managing to be the only female captain... and she gets lost.

Jean-Luc Picard... these two are fundamentally different people with different styles and Emissary capitalized on that. Picard is the philosopher where as Sisko is the fighter. Hard to say who's "stronger" between the two.

James T. Kirk... let's face it, if these two fought, it would probably destroy the galaxy.

I did find it odd that bl sisko had a non emotional response to his girlfriend being suspect of trafficking. he wore so many hats in the series that i found it difficult to relate to the character. But then i didnt go for the prophet religous aspect of the series. he acted well in the benny the writer ep, and in the baseball game against the vulcans. so once again i tend to pick and choose fav episodes rather than judge sisko for the entire series. did like his relationship with jake too. overall rating 8 out 10.
Archer 9 out10, janeway, 10, picard 9, and kirk 7. :-) if i had more time i would go into each ratings detail, but its all personal op anyway.

Perhaps you should explain why you believe that he is the weakest commanding officer in the Star Trek universe?

Nonsense.  He was pretty awesome.  #3 in terms of all of the captains in my opinion (after Kirk and Picard, of course).

Sisko is the best and most relatable to me.  I think I'd rather serve under him than any other.  He is decisive and is balanced both in his priorities and in being both an exploer and soldier.

Janeway is the worst to me.  She is more emotional rather than rational and flip flops her priorities.

Yeah, he outsourced his dirty work.  Garak even pointed out that Sisko knew what Garak would do, and that is why he turned to Garak.  Any other captain, even though more idealistic, would have done their own dirty work.

Physical strength no. screen presents no. Command athourity no. I think hes one of the strongest of all the captains. Look at all the combat scenes and tell me he is week. The man can lay a beating if he wants to. I think he may be able to take any of the captains in a fight.

I actually think Sisko was one of the strongest. He had to make some very hard wartime decisions and sacrifices. The weakest imo was Janeway, it seemed that her crew kept paying for her written in stone hangups.

I agree.  War with the Dominion was a test of a captain's mettle, to which simply commanding a lost starship seems like childsplay.
