Do you mean like HAL in 2001?  Not close, yet, I hope!

Somewhere deep within the protected isolation of a universe that has not yet been discovered. Tiny nanobots fill the air of the lab causing an almost sufficating smell. Whirrs of gears, servo's and the gentle click of acuators fill the ears of those walking into the lab. A Comet passes by the porthole as the the Sun glistens off of the ice trailing behind it...

A monitor blinks on and off and then remains on as you approach it, the blinky in the upper hand corner flashing an inventing curiosity and then you begin to read.....

The problem with artificial AI is based upon the following Gate Matrix that needs only built into an robotic frame to make it real.

Each time an event happens a person has a memory association related to another event happening that is associated with the event in the now occuring. Such a memory association can be based off of anything that is presently happening in the event but most of the time the memory association will deal directly with the most intense moment of the event that is occuring. These synaptic memory events can ooccur instantaneously or will have lapses in between such events occuring.

For example lets say I prick my finger becaue it is part of the process of donating plasma. During the pin prick I will have various synapses or memory spawns of various events that occured based upon the relationship of the pin pricking my skin. Maybe remembering that using drugs from needles is a no no based upon the association of the needle prick also being associated with drugs that are taken with a needle or a song by Pink Floyd called just Comfortably Numb where "....just a little pinprick..." is mentioned, or the HBO movie about heroin users in Maryland and even the memory association of a very attractive blonde whose name I don't remember that works at the plasma center.

Basically what these are called are memory associations or stored memory. In order for a robot to have such memory that imparts emotion as I will show shortly there MUST be a base experience for the memory association to occur.

Growing up I hated going to the doctors to get TB shots because I had watched various World War II shows about how very bad people had used needles to kill other people. When I was young I associated that all needles were going to be used to try and kill me. Everytime I had to take the needle I would become scared of dieing. Well not really being dead but what would happen to my mommy and the rest of the family. See how the memory event builds other memory patterns onto of it? Eventually I got over being afraid of needles by joining the Marine Corps in which we are required to take the needle for many vaccinations.

See how all of the memories stored around a single fingle prick allows me access to my memory storage area inside of my brain?

But how does this create a real life from a mere frame of a robot? Rather simple. Each time I have accessed a memory storage pattern based upon the single finger prick my emotions changed based upon the events that surrounded each event stored in my memory  that was accessed when my finger was pricked. Some of the emotions were happy events such as when I remembered in the Marine Corps when I finally realized that the shots be given to me were helpful and were not going to kill me and that the pain was only going to last for a few seconds. This then made me think about about the time I was younger and would cry about taking a a TB shot. I laughed to myself at seeing myself cry at nothing more than a needle being used to give me medicine.

The finger prick event above did not take place just now but was brought forth from memory as an instance of random thought of association to convey a particular idea. Right now I am having another memory association not based off of my finger being pricked but when I had a splinter in my hand. See the consistency in the random associations being formed?

A pin prick is to my finger causing a memory association to the memory association of having a splinter in my hand. But how?

The association occured because of the following reasonS

1.Both hurt because they were annoying, the finger prick breaking the skin of the finger and the splinter being logged (sp?) under my skin. See the two associations?

2.Both associations resulted because I knew that the length of metal had caused me pain when I was younger just like the length of wood had caused me pain as well.

3.Both events saw me trying to pull away from the nurse and my grandpa because I feared what might happen more pain or possibly death.

See how the overlapping emotional values associated with both memory events caused me to have a memory of them where my emotions now would be any variable associated with what I had learned from those two points in the past to the now.

There is a formula that can be used to describe the above processes.

B=Base of the event + any number of events associated with the base event will equal a certain number of memory associations that will trigger any type of emotional value.

The real key however in developing a real life robotic entity is that the the thoughts of the robot must learn as many words and their meanings from a dictionary as possible while in the "Young Robot" stage.

During the learning portion of the Young Robot stage the programmer will need to incorporate as many words and their meanings into the programming of the robot. Once at least 100,000 words have been programmed into the robots memory the robot can be turned loose to continue its growth.

The two main words that need to be progammed into the robots memory are Learning and Knowledge.

Learning will allow curiosity to be present in the mind of the robot young that regardless of what might happen the robot young will explore their surroundings.

Knowledge will allow what the robot learns through learning to build its continued memory association.

Here is a following scenario.

A young robot has learned through association that being fed a bottle of milk causes certain changes within its body that they are unaware of but happens at the cellular level that is controlled by the subconscious mind.  One day the robot baby sees a bottle of beer on the table but because it has not learned through association all the baby sees the bottle as is food.

Until it takes a sip of the beer bottle does the baby realize that what it just took a sip of was in fact not the same stuff that mom gave to it during feeding thus causing a new memory association to be formed.

As the robot baby 'grows' and learns new words and their definitions they will create associations of whether or not they like what event is taking place based upon what they have learned so far. Even before the baby is able to speak their are forming memory associates that lead to emotional values that they have created for theirself.

Repetative cognisense forms as the child listens and begins to associate various objects with other events that it encounters while it is young. Once the baby is able to learn words that associate a new memory with an event and object or objects within the event and read about such objects in a dictionary they will have emotional memory associations of what happened in the past, what happened in the in the now and what might occur in the future.

These events are occuring all the time in a real persons mind so what you think may have just caused the person to laugh at your silly joke might have actually been a result of the persons laughing because of a memory association that connected in their brain where an event from the past of future made them actually laugh.

This is merely a single memory event that occurs within the brain at any one point in time and at any given moment in the process of the brain.

The real key is being able to train the robot young to understand what depth is so that they would understand the association between the length of wood as the splinter and the length of metal as the needle that caused two vary similar memory associations to occur.

The very first memory association that any AI will need to have is the ability to make a noise that will alert its human or robotic mother to the fact that it needs something and once it gets that something it stops making the noise.

This very first memory association called "Attention" is the base for all future learning within the robots mind as it will constantly remember that when it cried it got something that it needed which would then evolve into robotic thinking of choice based upon wants that the robot like the human will associate later in life that they did something that they liked based off of how the emotion made them feel which is then used to attract other robots or people to them where the defining factor is once again 'attention'. Attention that creates a memory association the causes the baby to evolve to a higher form of sentient being or big baby.

Now that wasn't too difficult now was it?

Basically what has happened during Alzheimers is the brain has certain areas damaged that have stored the memory associative ability to occur. This is the point at which the the full grown adult will be seen as a child. As the child was inside of the womb before learning occured and the central nervous system provided the baby with only what was essential to survive.

Perhaps the following video will help understand the associatative memory function discribed above.

Humans are trying to impersonalise themseves on their hardware, probably because the 'reality' of truth is too hard to bare, so the denial of truth in self remains, unaware. Have the majority of folk, really moved on from childhood?

It's strange, being a catalyst for things that move outside.
