Do you think that Jadiza's death was a cheapshot like they did with Tasha Yar?

Like how would you do her death?

Somethinglike how Kirk's father died in the recent Star Trek movie or her death was just as good.

I have watched DS9 several times and i feel that the writers knew that Worf would never fight Chancellor Gowron to the death if he was still married to Jadiza. Because she had died i feel he had nothing to loose at that point. And i also feel he wanted to be killed to join her at that time.

Thus they had to kill her off. No it was not a cheapshot i fell it was right.

I was fine with how she died.  A death is a death and often heros don't get heroic deaths; what's important is how they lived.  Besides, since Ferrel left DS9 for Becker because she thought Trek would dead-end her career and then Becker ended up being a dead end, a non glorious end for Jadzia mirrors that of Ferrell's career.

Also, though Jadzia's death may not have been glorious for her, she was killed in cold blood while endeavoring to have a child.  The fact that she was needlessly murdered at such a tender moment solidified how evil Dukat was.  So though the death may not have been great for Jadzia's character, it was for developing Dukat's.

Part of the pathos of Jadzia's and Tasha's deaths may have been that they were so inglorious -- and so one would expect her (and Tasha) to have perhaps recovered from the attack. But no; they're just dead. A glorious death would have been set up dramatically and possibly more expected. (Not as sudden nor surprising.)

Considering that I've pretty much always found Jadzia to be one of the blander central characters, I have no problem with the way she died.

Jadzia should've died in "Change of Heart" or as early as season 2 for Ezri to have come in sooner.

She could have died in "Change of Heart" after Worf disobeyed orders trying to save her. Tragic and poignant.

Or she could have died in "Rocks and Shoals" after they'd crashed on that desert planet. She would've been a random casualty of war.

Or she could have died off-screen between seasons, either with some dialogue between Sisko and Worf to establish what happened ("As you know, Jadzia came down with the mumphs last week and didn't make it..."), or she could simply have been replaced with Nicole deBoer, and no one would have mentioned it. The writers would have had to decide whether to just pretend she was still Jadzia, or introduce Ezri as her replacement.

I think the beautiful thing about Dax is you can throw in a new actor like you can Dr Who.  Actor wants to leave?  Okay, new actor, new body, same person.  It would have been silly to bring in a new actress to be Jadzia.

I think she should have died a more heroic death than what they wrote for her.  Jadzia was a very popular member of the cast for years, so I think she deserved a better sendoff.

I think it would have been better if they let her die in that episode when she and Worf were trapped on that planet inside Cardassian space.

Then we would have lost Jadzia AND Dax because the symbiant would have died on the planet.  Having Dax live on allowed for an interesting contrast and continuity of the character.

an idea of how it will start off:

During the high of the War. The USS Destiny is attacked. So Jadiza and Kira go ahead and help out. So in the ship Jadiza befriends with fellow Trill Ezri and help her adjust in the ship. Later on they formed a sisterly bond. Kira finds out that the ship is transporting Red matter from Vulcan on a top secret mission to destroy the Founders homeworld. So in the middle of transporting the Red Matter, the ship is boarded by Jem'Hadar troops. So in middle of trying to retake the ship. Kira dumps the red matter in space, in doing so the ship crashes on the Planet. Kira is knocked out, but Jadiza protecting the only survivor Ezri Dax. In Doing so she is surrounded by an army of Jem'hadar and has to fight them off, before a rescue team arrives. In doing so she dies fighting remembering her times on Deep Space Nine, Her friends, and Worf, Her last wish was that Ezri inhert the Dax host.

Not nessesaraly. It could have been handled the same vway as her real death, with therm keeping her alive long enough to save Dax.

If she died on that planet with only Worf around, I don't think he would have had the ability to keep her alive all the way back to DS9.

The situation was set up, that if he completed the mission, she would have died there on the planet.  As I understand it, the symbiant can only last a few hours without a host.

she was pretty near death when Worf changed his miond and went back for her.

All they needed to do was make it that he was a few minutes too late.
