At the end of March, Roddenberry.com, the site which has for years carried the name that IS Star Trek, has announced to its mems, that it will be moving to Facebook primarily, and Google Plus. As one who has been there for several years, I find this a sad state of affairs....thoughts?.......

So they are still functional just going to be on social media sites?
Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

That's correct. Those who have been regular, or semi-regular posters there are not happy with this decision, however. Granted, the numbers are low for those who do, but, it's an important aspect of interaction for people who are active there. I don't care for Facebook, and there are a few there who feel as I do, regardless of reason. It may be 'all that', to so many, but, there are plenty of nefarious types, scouring FB to see whom they can prey on, and I've heard enough negatives about it, to make me less than enthusiastic. Thankfully, there are yet places like the satellite boards, or yes, here, where Roddenberry devotees might come, if so be that ever their choice, to come and chat about things trek, or whatever comes to mind. FB isn't the be-all, end-all, IMO. Yes, it's cool, that celebs have pages there, I'll grant that, but, still, I prefer to be safe, than sorry. I don't care to come to the internet, and have to watch my back for tricksters out to do harm....

I don't think they should strictly be on social media. It is going to be interesting when people find the "next big thing" and all of that dies. While I do use FB I still go to actual websites more than looking at said website's FB pages.
Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

I can't answer for 100% certainty, but, I think it's pretty clear, that Rod allows others to run RDC. One of the mods has become a good online pal of mine there, we've posted together many times. The last post I saw from Rod himself, was an announcement of his marriage some months back.
