Will JJ Abrams do TNG, DS-9, and/or Voyager films in the new Trek Alternate Universe?

I can see someone doing a re-imagining of the TNG era... though how they would deal with the alternate timeline thing, I have no idea.

DS9, Voyager and ENT never got made into movies the first time around, so I don't really see why anyone would make a movie of them now.

I think it's more likely that somebody comes up with a half-way original idea and makes a movie of that.

Well, based on the responses here...I guess there really ARE people who believe they would continue to reboot / re-imagine the spinoff series.

I just can't get my head wrapped around why anyone would think that. Wishful thinking, perhaps? Suffice it to say, it won't happen, folks. Honestly. I think the liklihood of what you will probably see is (in order):

1. Continued adventures on the big screen with the current TOS re-cast.

2.  A new TV series, based on the TOS characters, with yet another cast.

3. A new TV series, but with a new cast and a new format that has no link to any of the other shows (no crossovers, no fanwank...just something totally new and rebooted- so new cast, new characters, new universe)

4. A new TV series (animated or live-action) taking place after the events of ST-Nemesis in the established classic universe

I think 1 and 2 are fairly likely in some form. I think #3 is far off from #2, and I think #4 is far off from #3...making that the least likely future choice.

I'd put a re-boot of TNG or another spin-off series #10 on this list. And there's only 4 things on the list.

That's how unlikely it is.

Glad someone agrees with me on this.

Why the Borg emote? Cause I never use it...and it is far more likely to see a Borg Andorian on the big screen in the next movie than a TNG reboot.

>Without trying to sound mean, it absolutely befuddles me that anyone would think that this is even CLOSE to being possible.

>Guys, honestly, I would bet my house and my car that TNG, DS9, VOY or ENT will never be redone as a movie franchise. Ever.

>Ever.

>It just isn't going to happen. Are people really that far removed from reality that they honestly believe that there is a liklihood of this happening?

But I want the last 3 years of Enterprise!!!

I want more Shran!! Same thing I guess.

It certainly hurts if the continued future of the franchise is dependant upon the success of every subsequent film, and if the "fresh perspective" is on a topic that nobody but the hardcore fanbase cares about.

What French accent?  Stewart doesn't use a French accent anymore than Sean Connery did an Egyptian accent for Highlander.

It could happen. Lots of people thought the Bond franchise was dead when they introduced a blonde Bond. Superman Returns didn't go over that well, but here they are making Man of Steel, and Skyfall. I'd be willing to watch a TNG movie based on the JJverse.

i hope he leaves tng, ds9 and voy alone. they were really great and doesn't need to be messed with. Some things in life should just be left alone.

JadnenJaneway,

You have nothing to worry about. Those shows will never be re-done. But, it certainly isn't because there is some need to protect their artistic uniqueness as classics or becuase "they are great already."

On the contrary, they won't be redone simply because not enough people care enough about them enough to re-do them.

Besides, those shows were already spin-offs/re-makes of the original series...so why would anyone want to re-make a re-make? It makes no sense from any angle to do it...but it won't be because "they are great already!" as you have suggested.
