He's known to be a heavy drinker, but I've seen most of TOS, and I've only seen him drink 2 times.

Tribbles & Wink of an Eye? Yes - but boy did he drink in those episodes. Besides he's Scottish & they're known to have more than their fare share of the tipple. And sometimes you don't have to actually see a man physically imbibe to get  an inkling he would, could be someone who might sink a six-pack in a relatively short period of time.

There's more than just Tribbles and Wink of an Eye - there's the episode where aliens assume human form and wear those belts that turn humans into small piles of molecules - doesn't he get one of them drunk - and himself - in that as well?

and he had one or two in Wolf in the Fold as well i think - and he has a bourbon or two in the OK Corral episode (sorry having a bad episode-name day) as well

The ones with the aliens with belts and The Trouble with Tribbles. Wink of an Eye? Is that late season 3, I just started it.

I was the one who mentioned in 'Wink of an Eye' off the top of my head. I think that might well be wrong & had it mixed up with 'By Any other Name' which CloudMinder2 has since mentioned.

My main memory of Wink of an Eye is that bit when Kirk's putting his boots on ... which they somehow got past the censors...

It seems kind of funny that the alien in "By Any Other Name" who, it would seem, had never drunk alcohol before, wasn't schnookered by the time they'd finished the first bottle, especially since Scotty seemed to be filling the other guy's glass at least twice as often as he was filling his own.

Scotty has a very number of drinks in a whole lot of episodes.  In Wolf in the Fold, the episode starts with McCoy and Kirk drinking with Scotty.  It's all over the place.
