There's a ton of plotholes in Wrath of Khan.

The one that gets me the most (and you never hear anyone mention it) is this:

Kirk is an admiral and apparently the head of Starfleet Academy or some similar kind of role. How amazingly coincidental is it that just as Khan is escaping, Kirk just HAPPENS to be aboard the Enterprise (we're given the impression that Kirk's time spent on starships is rare at this point in his career) on a training cruise and also just HAPPENS to be the only ship in range to respond to Carol Marcus, who just HAPPENS to not only be Kirk's ex lover and baby mamma...but also the chief scientist on the Genesis Project.

If you think about it, Khan's whole plan for drawing Kirk out falls apart if these extremely conincidental elements aren't in place.

>plothole in star trek II can someone explain why chekov remembers khan when he was not even on the enterprise in season 1 episode space seed it makes no sense was he hiding in the closet. he did not appear until season 2 of tos someone explain this plothole.

>

Presumably Chekov was serving on the Enterprise at the time, though he wasn't yet on the senior staff. The running joke is that Chekov made Khan wait too long to use the bathroom, and Khan swore never to forget his face.

There's another plothole that always bugged me: how could the Reliant crew possibly mistake Ceti Alpha V for Ceti Alpha VI? Especially since Ceti Alpha VI exploded decades ago (how could Starfleet miss that, by the way?)

"Oops." lol.

The Chekov thing is a pretty classic "plothole" that a lot of people bring up, and yeah it's quite easily resolved. Yes, he was on the Enterprise; but no, he was not yet at "centre stage", so to speak.

as for mistakeing Ceti Alpha V for Ceti Alpha VI?...............maybe the obital ship effects asll planatertary bodies in the system.?

Yeah, but if there's only five planets in the system now, how could they think they're orbiting the sixth one?

why would you assume that there are only 5 planets left in the system?

maybe the Ceti Alpha system originally had 13 planets?

Good point, I never thought of that.

Still, I don't see how they could have confused two different planets. Celestial bodies are very unique, and unless Ceti Alpha VI had an ecosystem and geography incredibly similar to that of V, I doubt they could have mixed it up.

I also would have thought Starfleet would keep an eye on how Khan's colony is going on V. Especially considering his reputation on Earth.

well keep in mind, in Space seed, CA5 was described as barely class m, but habitable.

What we saw in the flim was far from that, so maybe after the explosion, CA5 started to look like CA6 under scanns.

I would have thought so as well. But who kows, maybe they were too busy.

It's a difficult choice, I love First Contact and Insurrection... but the newer one is kick ass. I just can't choose :D

Wrath of Khan is easily the best written Trek movie. Even a harsh ciritic like me can't find too much wanting with it. The literary references throughout the movie are epic too.

I really like, The Voyage Home. But the best probably would be The Wrath of Khan or First Contact.

The Wrath of Khan is the best but a tie for second with The Voyage Home and Star Trek 2009
