The fact that I don't know who this is might be some kind of answer already.

I just looked him up.  There was an astronaut by that name , and someone listed on IMDB as a research consultant on 66 episodes of TNG, as well as some other ST credits including coming up with the term PADD.

I am sorry you don't know Richard! Either way, as you get to know what he's done for the series and fans, I hope that if you spread the word and go to any of the star trek conventions, held by Creation Entertainment which he is apart of today, (Still, after Gene has been gone, he's still bringing Star Trek to the fans via conventions) please say thank you to him, nothing more, just thank you and eventually he'll get it. I speak on this site as a friend to Richard Arnold and a friend to the loving nature of all the devoted star trek fans, it's always nice to know you heelped be apart of something so great to others lives and to be thought of in a kind way, so I bring Richard up after reading some of the things I had, and I believe that if any go to the Conventions, you search him out, pass the Idea around and just say thank you for his contribution in helping to bringing you something that to this day has brought joy to your lives.  Live long and prosper to th greatest fans in the Federation

I read somewhere he used to proofread many of the Trek novels and decided which could be published or not. I recall that Peter David said that he hated Arnold. I'm not sure if he contributed anything to the world of Star Trek.

I remember he acted as an advisor on continuity and the like to TNG, but was sacked. Shortly after, he gave a bitter interview to the British mag `Dreamwatch' in which he slagged off DSN and Voyager (mainly because he wasnt involved with them), and Rick Berman, saying he wasnt Gene roddenberry's choice of successor. Letters afterwards commented on his `sour grapes' and the fact he was sulking as Paramount had taken his toys away from him. He must have had to get a real job afterwards.

Truth is perseption and I am sorry that near the end of Gene's life when all the heads an subordenents surrounding the Star Trek empire was starting to crumble becaus the show's were slowly dying away, it was those who were left after gene was gone, devistating my friend and quite a few around him, Star Trek ended up where it is today, no where, except on reruns and movies. These people you talk about as knowledge bases of what was is all that is left now; what was. Yes, Richard had a hand in proofreading script's and continuiy, but sacked only after the creator was gone and the keepers that took over the star trek series did what they were doing their best to do and destroyed the series leaving Star Trek a past conversation as we're doing today, except for the wonderful movies we are always waiting eagerly for. Writers always speak ill of those who correct them when needed and producers, directors, writers, as well as distributor's are often wrong and need to be corrected as to things they write or say and someone had to be the on to correct them, even at the risk of being the bad guy. And here is the most important part I believe and should be to all the Star Trek Fans: Gene Roddenberry made Richard Arnold, my dear frind that person. For good or for bad.

By the way, Richard works for Creation Entertainment now which brings you your Star Trek Conventions Spouler, so your little digg is in your comment is pathetic and disrespectfull to the Star Trek Community! Anyway, you must be angry to say something like that and I am sorry for you and hope your life gets better!

See you all at the Las Vegas Convention if you can make it, I found out I'll be working that one to at the Rio, so I hope to meet you there. Please, no matter what you feel, I ask federation love for my frind and ask you say thatnk you if you see Richard please, for he has played apart of a show we all love.
