If they ever revise the Excelsior-class ship's design, I would like them to put 3 or 4 nacelles on it.  That way, if one or two are damaged, the others could still function and at least get them to a starbase or space station for repairs.

That's scary good ship design...so we know it won't be in JJ's next movie.

>Wait, what exactly are you asking here?

>If you're wishing you saw more Excelsior-class ships in the existing Trek series? Then I'd have to point out BamBam's post, as we saw a TON of them during the Dominion War ship battles. And it seemed in Seasons 6 and 7 that two or three Excelsior-class ships were permanently assigned to DS9 (as they were in all of the establishing shots).

>But if you're wanting a new Trek series to focus on the crew of an Excelsior-class ship? Well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

>BTW, I'd have to say the Excelsior-class is my favorite Starfleet vessel as well. (I also like the Defiant-class and Constitution-class.)

They did think making one like some series thought of doing they deside againist it.

The Prometheus-class ship, which can separate into 4(?) smaller ships, is a unique design.  However, I would still prefer the older style Federation ship, perhaps with a wing of fighters like the Akira-class.

Is it so much that they were removed from Trek or that the timeline simply progressed such that they became less and less frequent? There is a difference.

They may make an appearance in the alternate timeline at some point, though from what is known now the new movie predates Excelsior class vessels.

I like the design and the B refit, I was a bit dissapointed it wasn't one of the free ships you could get in Star Trek Online.

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?
