I don't think the music had anything to do with it. I too liked the season 1 and 2 version of the song, not the 3 and 4 seasons.
I think it was a little of too much Trek at once and people went into Trek overload. What I have come to see is that a lot of people thought it was crap in the beginning but when they gave it a chance they realized how good of a series it was, how great the characters were. It will always be underrated but in my opinion it deserves a LOT more credit then it is given.
I say it all the time, my favorite Trek.

This exactly. All the series (with the possible exception of TOS) started off badly, only to turn around in seasons 3-4. People were needing a break from Trek by the time Voyager ended, and when not immediately satisfied with ENT Season 1 they gave up way too quickly. If ENT had started two years later than it did, it would have lasted much longer.

I had a hard time accepting Enterprise at first. Just judging a book by the cover, I had a hard time getting past that awful theme song. I have watched all of the episodes in the last 6 months or so and I wish there were more! It was just so good! Of course i loved Tripp, but I also found my slef wishing for more Shran (spelling?) too. I am just starting the Voyager series and have not seen DS9 yet so I can't wait to see how Enterprise compares.

Welcome, Newbie. Yes, Enterprise is a great show. Yes, there is a constant, ongoing debate about whethet the theme song is totally awesome, or totally sucks. (I personally love it.) Just as a friendly warning, you might want to be a little bit careful about what you share on the web. There are some weird people out there. (Oh wait, that's us.)
@q_wanna-b: You spelled Shran right.

I reckon Star Trek: Enterprise has good opening titles. (That's after the teaser, at the beginning.) They're my favorite actually, of all the Star Trek series. That's followed by TNG - of 3rd season onward.

Enterprise was certainly one of my favorites...
What impressed me though was how many of the episodes that were directed by Roxann Dawes (sp?) Torres from Voy. Really good episodes to. (Not like whee Trip had to transport that pricess around pbbbt.)
Seriously though. The fourth season was pretty damned good. The Vulcan themed Forge story line. Brent Spinner's apearance right at the onset. The Mirror episodes (Tell me the Intro with the Dagger Enterprise was not double bad a$$ed) and the Phlox saves the Klingon Empire from the Virus storyline which, oh so cleverly, explained the diference in the Klingons of TOS and TNG. Awesome...

I've tried watching Enterprise before and am doing it now on Netflix, but I'm just having a hard time getting into it. I am determined to watch all episodes and I hope it grows on me.

The first two seasons aren't great, but seasons 3-4 are amazing.

I finally finished Enterprise yesterday, and I'm so sad that it's over. Seasons 3 and 4 were absolutely amazing, and I think that Season 4 was one of the best seasons of Star Trek ever.
I personally don't think the theme song was that bad. I prefer the version used in Seasons 1 and 2. I didn't like it at first, but it does grow on you.
Enterprise deserved so much more.

Star Trek: Enterprise is my second favorite series...second only to Deep Space Nine. Manny Coto should have been given Seasons 5,6, and 7 to bring us the BEST TREK EVER!
