So it's been two years...

And I just saw there will be a reception at Spacedock for the new Ship classes, hosted by Trek Radio and everything. Even formal attire is requested. Is it me, or does that all sound too fun?

I'm testing out the Odessy and hopefully getting one.

I'm gonna park my characters outside Quinn's office when I log out tonight... I can't wait for my Odyssey!

Well Star Trek Online is an MMO, a massive multiplayer online game. without too much detail, an MMO is a game were you can have both single one-player missions while sharing an expansive world with players from all over the world.

I think the main wenbpage for the game can clear up your doubts.

As for the Odessy Class: man that was a big ship ship! Though now that I got an in-game look at it, it looked WAY too much like the Soverign Class for my taste.

And it is so ugly it scares away bad guys.  You want a ship that takes a beating, try the Dreadnaught.  Not only that, a cruiser that can take cannons allows it to provide a beating while it takes one.  Fire lance, heavy canons, turrets, torpedos.  Then tractor beam, warp plasma and maines as you pass.  It's almost unfair to the other side.

But with heavy cannons you have to pointing forwards alot and that get annoying they are best for escorts because of the big turn rate. dreadnouaght too slow

I have dual cannon and dual heavy cannons in the front with turrets in the back as well as a tractor beam and borg tractor beam. I get an enemy in my sights and then whale on him with 4 energy weapons and phaser lance. If he starts to leave my line of sight, I fire a tractor beam. Meanwhile my strength handles whatever he throws back.

For smaller, more maneuverable enemies, the turrets, mines, and warp plasma weaken them until they move in front of me.

The strategy has worked pretty well for me.
