TNG's entire cast is wonderful, but as far as the best, i think in the show it's self it's a tie between Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. but as far as their performances in other things, Patrick Stewart is miles ahead. i saw him play "Macbeth" in the PBS movie based on the original play. at first i was apprehensive to watch it because i thought when i looked at Patrick Stewart i would only be able to see him as Captain Picard, because i watched TNG first and he played such was a distinctive character. such was not true. Simply Because Stewart MADE you believe he was Macbeth. It was impossible to see him otherwise. i didn't even think about star trek while watching it. (Which for me is saying a lot, seeing as i think about star trek almost any time i'm not thinking about doctor who. Lol ) He is one of  the best actors I've ever seen. highly recommended

The best actor on TNG in my opinion is undoubtedly Patrick Stewart - Brent Spiner, John de Lancie and Whoopi Goldberg fill out the rest of the best.

Patrick Stewart, definitely. The episodes of TNG that were focused on Picard were great and Stewart's delivery and execution was remarkable to watch. My second favorite would have to be Brent Spiner because not only was he awesome as Data, but when he was Lore, he played that role with such conviction that you couldn't believe that such a character would be evil, espicially an android.

I'm going to have to go with Brent Spiner.  It sounds almost blasphemous since Patrick Stewart is one of the best actors of our generation (no pun intended) and he gave some grandiose performances as Picard.  I think if you're asking who the better actor overall is, there's no question it's Stewart.

However, I am more impressed by Spiner in TNG because of how complex Data is and how he has a unique and compellng personality, even without expressing emotion, and that is because of the amazing acting that Brent Spiner does.  Data is a rich and textured character and Spiner always had to play him with the handicap of not expressing emotion.  To me, that "handicap" is what puts him over the top, just slightly.  Patrick Stewart always had the benefit of using his full emotional range, Brent didn't.

They would get my vote.  But, Michael Dorn played a pretty good Klingon.  You have to admit that was a bit of an unusual role at that time.

Sir Patrick Stewart

Q: But you can't deny that you're still a dangerous, savage child race. PICARD: Most certainly I deny it. I agree we still were when humans wore costumes like that, four hundred years ago. Q: At which time you slaughtered millions in silly arguments about how to divide the resources of your little world. And four hundred years before that you were murdering each other in quarrels over tribal god-images. Since then, there are no indications that humans will ever change.

A tie between Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. Both caught their roles from the very beginning and I enjoyed their preformances

For guest stars only, I'd give that instantly to John de Lancie.
