My first thought was, "Not in a million years!"
My second thought was, "Maybe..."
They'd have to do it right, though. No manga-styled characters (like in The Clone Wars - is that supposed to be hair or Playdoh?). No lame thing that doesn't take itself seriously (like The Clone Wars). Whatever they make had better be up to DS9's standard in terms of story development and ENT's standard in terms of special effects. And I want the characters to actually look somewhat real...I know that's hard to do with animation, but still.

I'm all for it! I believe it is the best way to reconcile the rift between the old school trekkies and the new JJTrek.

>i've gone for 'maybe' - i'm watching TAS at the moment and really enjoying it - obviously we don't have Jimmy Doohan now, but with all the other original cast around we could see more TAS work, or something else - the Romulan Wars idea sounds interesting
> |
Sadly we don't have De Kelley either (since 1999) and many of the other actors voices are now far deeper than they once were.
|
yes, of course - even as i'd written it i had a feeling i'd forgotten someone - apologies fellow trekkies...
and i take a point about the others also - maybe employ a few good impressionists?!

I don't think it should be another TAS, but a whole new show in its own time period.
I was thinking that it could take place in 2387 and document the chaos in the Alpha/Beta Quadrants following the destruction of Romulus. The crew should consist of more aliens (I would LOVE a Bolian or Cardassian captain).

I've always wanted an animated show set in the Lost Era of Trek. TLE being a term used in fiction to refer to the period between the Enterprise-B's launch (2293), and Picard taking command of the D (2365 I think).
We could have people from TOS that can no longer look the part appear in those roles once more, like Sulu on the EXcelsior, or finally see if Chekov gt a promotion to something ABOVE commander!

Yes, yes and YES! A clone wars 3D Trek would be the best way to go, although I wouldn't mind a 2D trek either.
A Trek anime would also kick @$$.

I like the look they gave TMNT and think that would work for a ST animated movie/series

The reason why TAS has rarely been syndicated is because there are only 22 episodes. Syndcators generally like more then three seasons' worth (on that score, TOS got lucky, thanks to its rabid following).
That being said, if I was calling the shots, I'd start off with a CGI redo of the old TAS episodes, not just to clean it up and bring it more in line with the live action versions, but also to build up the infrastructure to enable the production of a new animated series (basically the same approach George Lucas took in preparing for the prequels, by starting with the Special Editions of the original trilogy to get everything up to speed before diving in to the prequels).

It was suppose to be low budget, the idea, if I remember, was to have a show that could be streamed online, or on TV as a best case scenario.
It was never 'killed off' by CBS, so much as left to die of hunger...

I don't videogame, but, given the ever-advancing state of technology, I at times see these venues, and think, it's a shame, that movies aren't made of this or that game, though of course some have inspired live-action films. But, given the above, it's too bad, that a st-themed animated series can't be done.

I think it would be great if they would clean up the horrible annimation from TAS and re-release TAS with all new graphics. The voice acting and many of the stories were ok, and while it would be great to have the whole original cast, I think it would be a great solution if they fixed up what they have.
