Hello all,
Curious...When I purchased each of my season sets of DS9, TOS and V'Ger within weeks of their initial relase, it was within the time when the bonus disc was part of the package. When I browse Amazon, DeepDiscount or here, the description of each season set shows the number of discs does not include the featurette.
It's a good thing I bought the sets during their original release. Why are the season sets packaged without the bonus disc anymore?

Depends where it was bought. Like when I bought them as they were originally released some of the stores had boxed sets that didn't come with the bonus disc. I bought a few from BJ's Warehouse, a couple from Music for a Song, the PX and Wal-Mart, none of them had a bonus disc. When I bought boxed sets from Media Play and Best Buy, those came with Bonus discs.

But what about buying them now in 2012. That's the question. Why would sets sold currently be lacking the bonus disc?

its a marketing tactic. It has to do with releasing rights. It also has to do with distrubuters and being able to bring it back so that its more appealing

The marketing angle was my first thought ('Hey! Buy this now because you get this nifty bonus features disc. So, don't wait 'til next year. The bonus disc will be available for a limited time.' kind of thing).
