I LOVE Shatner, Nimoy, and Kelley. And Doohan was pretty good too. But once you start adding in Koenig, Takei, and Nichols? Well, as much as I hate to say it, the ensemble starts to suffer. Especially because in the 60s, supporting characters just never got that much development and/or screen time.

So DS9 wins this one. I mean, even its "supporting" supporting characters were excellent. And once the actors began to settle into their roles, they really nailed it ... every episode. Of course, having great material (DS9 was known for its deep, complex scripts) probably helped too!

DS9, no doubt at all. Why? Let's start: captain Sisko, Odo, doctor Bashir, O'Brian, Quark, Major Kira, Jadzia Dax, Worf, Morn, Nog, Garak, Rom, Gul Dukat, Rom, Weyoun, Martok, Ezri Dax, Damar, Leeta, Kai Winn, Admiral Ross, Michael Eddington, Vedek Bareil, Gowron, Vic Fonatine, Grand Nagus Zek, Joseph Sisko, Ziyal, .....  Pretty impressive.

I love the cast to all of the series. So it's hard for me to even rank them. But to choose just one I'll say Deep Space Nine.

Well i believe Voyager had the best, especially with Captain Janeway, and i think having a female Captain was different but still a good idea, and i loved the whole idea of a Holographic Doctor taking interest in things he was not programed for like culture, literature etc, and having a mixture of Maquis and Starfleet made it all the more better.

It's simple really.

Star Trek would not exist without the ORIGINAL CAST

They were the first. They won our hearts long ago. All other series are derivitive and based on the show. The personalities of TOS are what we remeber most.

I know Patric Stewart is a better actor than the Shat. I know Brent Spiner is a marvellous actor.(So is John De Lancey.) But that is not the question in point.

The ORIGINAL CAST have been and will remain to be remebered most in popular culture.

There are reasons why most people(even if they havent seen an episode of Star Trek) know memorable phrases like "Live Long and Prosper" and "Beam me up, Scotty"  When people reference Star Trek they dont say "Make it so, number one."

It's because these characters are Immortal. The characters created in THE ORIGINAL SERIES will undoubtedly outlive us all.

That makes them number one in my book.
