Star Trek My home made TOS tricorder.

Made from wood; painted with silver, textured with acrylic paint or covered with silver paper. The lights are glued on gems. The screen is a clear plastic Christmas bauble cut down and painted on the inside. The speaker grill is brass embossing metal. The knobs are picture hanging nail heads, glued on.

The moiré works, without moving parts - it's made from lazer printed acetate, suspended a few millimetres above the same design on white paper but rotated 180°. It moves because the observer moves.

Total cost about £35.

Btw ServelanFan, great job with the pics but I think one of the pictures got repeated by mistake - there should be one of the tricorder completely closed up - I'd do it myself but I don't know how yet either and it would be better to have them together anyhow I think
