I'm interested in starting a new Star Trek podcast and I need a co host

I've come up with some ideas, but any input is welcomed as well.

The show will be called 24th Century Earth a Star Trek Podcast and will cover the entire franchise instead of only one series. But I'd like to cover everything in chronological sequence to the universe. Meaning we'd start with Enterprise and end with Voyager. I'd like to also throw in the films as they come, and once into TNG territory I'd like to do TNG and DS9 together starting in Season 6 of TNG as it was when it originally aired. Same with DS9 and Voyager. Sounds complicated I know, but I have it all figured out as far as the show goes. I just need a co host with a love and passion for Trek.

Well I would like to do an episode each week. Where are you from? Do you have skype and a microphone? We could record over skype? And do you have all the series on dvd?

And are you fine with the format of the show?

I'm fine with doing one episode per show or multiple episodes per show. I suppose maximum I'd say 4 episodes per show.

I'm just a little confused as to what we would be doing? With this. I actually act as a part time job so I'm interested in this.

Well what it would be, is we would watch the episodes and then give each episode a review. We'll talk about the episode, what it was about, what we thought of it. What we think about the characters and the series at said point. And at the end of each episode we'll give it a rating of 1 to 5 stars. At the end of a season we'll give our overall rating to it.

Basically it's going to be a review show of the entire Star Trek franchise.

All of the other podcasts out there focus on only one series. Except for a show called Treknologic, but they do random episodes.

A layout of what I'm looking at doing is

Enterprise Seasons 1-4

The Original Series Seasons 1-3

The Animated Series Seasons 1-2

Star Trek The Motion Picture

Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn

Star Trek III The Search for Spock

Star Trek IV The Voyage Home

Star Trek V The Final Frontier

Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country

Star Trek The Next Generation Seasons 1-5

At that point during Season 6 of TNG, I'd like to begin Season 1 of DS9 and do the episodes in the sequence they originally aired in, going back and forth between TNG and DS9 and later on DS9 and Voyager doing the TNG films at the point in which they were released in theaters.

So the end of our podcast will be after completing Voyager Season 7 and then Star Trek Nemesis.

Okay interesting. Funny thing I actually two days ago started my own quest to watch everything in order. I'm twelve episodes into Enterprise. But I could watch them again haha. How would we talk with each other. I live in NJ.

Simple! I live in Alabama, but all you need is skype. It's a free program that will allow us to talk to other through our computers. Do you have a microphone? All you really need is a microphone and skype.

Do you have any editing software or anything you'd like to use for the show? It's fine if you don't. I have a program called Audacity. It's just a free progra that I can use for recording the show.

Well I have plenty of mic's. What kind of editing software. I edit videos on AVID MEDIA COMPOSER. But I'm pretty sure that's not what your talking about.

All we need is something that we can use to record our conversation on skype and then edit it. I can do it with Audacity. But Audacity isn't the most advanced program. Most podcasts have some kind of music play when the show starts and usually use audio clips from the episode that they're talking about.

I can probably do it with Audacity. I was just seeing if what you have is better than what I have. Because if it is, than I would let you do the editing. But as long as you have a working microphone and download skype, we would be capable of producing a podcast.

That actually sounds like something I'd get involved with, were it not for lack of time.

Well if I record on my mac then I have Soundtrack pro a professional audio editing software. I would just have to study some pod cast never having listening to them before.

Wow well that would be awesome! Well I'm a long time Podcast listener, it's pretty simple. Some great trek shows to check out though would be Trek Companion. That one is my favorite. They do DS9. The Gamma Quadrant, they also do DS9.

Treknologic, they do random episodes.

Trekmate and it's a show from the UK and they also do random stuff.

They're good shows, but this is why I want to do a show that covers the whole franchise.

There's also a show called The Delta Quadrant which is a Voyager podcast. I helped with it's creation but I'm no longer involved with it.

Do you want to set up a time to talk on skype?

guillermo.mejía let me know if you get some time. Most podcasts have 3 people. I'm good with 2, but I'd also be good with 3 people so long as we all have a good chemistry together.

I'm going to check these all out as I get time today so that I can better understand a podcast. But all in all I think this will be fun. And I own a production company we are currently doing an online series called "Captain Communism" so that could be a way to advertise the pod cast and the other way around.
