Hello,

I am writing tonight because I am a member of a Facebook group called "Bring Back Janeway".

As you may know, the novel-verse books have written that Admiral Janeway was "killed" in The Next Generation novel, "Before Dishonor" and according to those in charge of Pocket Books, the company, which produces all the different Star Trek books, she will remain dead.   However, in the book she was saved by one of the Q and taken into the Continuum, thus she isn't really dead.

I, and others in the group have created a new online petition in support of the effort to convince the publishers and authors of the book series to bring Admiral Janeway back to the books, as we believe that her story is far from over!

We are posting here, in hopes that other fans of Star Trek: Voyager and of Admiral Kathryn Janeway will speak out and support this new effort to right a wrong..

The new online petition sends an email to Pocket Books / Simon & Schuster with each signature gained in support of returning the character Admiral Kathryn Janeway to the Voyager novel-verse.

Help make some noise! Sign the petition to tell Pocket Books / Simon & Schuster that we want Admiral Janeway returned to the Star Trek: Voyager novel-verse! Oh yes, Janeway's demise has been heatedly and repetitively discussed here. You bet I'll join. Have you posted this over at the Trek bbs site as well? I agree 100% , no Janeway= no Voyager imo.

I personally have not though I believe another member of the group has.  Thank you so much for your support!   I'll have to check the trekbbs site this evening personally in between cooking dinner and threatening my 12 year old daughter with dire consequences if she doesn't get that cosmic disaster area she calls her bedroom cleaned up!

Lmao! Yeah I will be on the bbs this evening as well. I am Killandra on there. Are you the petition creator? I see the creator is in Williamsburg. I am in VA Beach, but hope to be back on the other side of the water (Hampton or Newport News) in the next month.

I agree. Janeway should be brought back. It was stupid and unnecessary to waste her like they did. Not only is she a great character, she's also the main character of the show.

I think they should bring back Kes, Tuvok and Neelix too.

When I read a Voyager book, I want to read about the characters in the series, not some replacement characters. A Voyager book without the main characters is not a real Voyager book.

Absolutely! A Voyager book w/i the main characters is not a real Voyager book. I understand even main characters are prone to dying, but the lead character? The bulk of fans aren't giving a crap because it's Janeway, but if it was Picard instead it'd be a different ball game I'm sure. 

It is a disgrace the way Janeway has been treated in the books. I'm not a big follower of them, but I'm still dismayed. I will never understand why they think Janeway is so expendable. She is an awesome character and, to many people, she IS Voyager. If they cannot write stories for her then they really need new writers. There are plenty in the fanfiction community who can write as good, if not better, than those that are getting paid.

Well, all of the series are missing characters now, especially DS9.  It is kind of silly to expect these characters to spend their entire career at one posting.  I like having the characters going seperate ways because it is more realistic.  i've also thoroughly enjoyed Tuvok in Titan. 

As for Neelix, having him leave was already decided on TV.  That said, if you read upcoming book announcements, you'll notice Beyer's next VOY book involves Neelix.  NEElix and Kes also just had prominent roles in the latest Mirror Universe novel. 

I agree killing Janeway was wrong and she should be restored, though maybe not to the VOY novels since she had taken a desk job prior to Before Dishonor. The petition won't amount to anything anyways and I don't like all the personal information it requires to sign it.  I also tend to believe most (not all) of those who cause a ruckus over Janeway being killed weren't reading the books to begin with and probably haven't sampled what Beyer has done with the series. 

And once this effort is over, Syn.Sixx, perhaps you guys can start emailing Diamond Select Toys to put out Voyager figures.  I want a Janeway figure so I have all of the captains and wouldn't mind Seven and Doctors figs as well.

If Janeway's death bothers you, it should bother you that Janeway is the only captain Art Asylum/DST has not made a figure of.

I have read the books Matthias, if you don't agree, that's fine you don't have to agree.  No one expects that everyone feels the same.   The only reason this was posted here was as a means of reaching other fans who do share the same feelings and who would also like to see Janeway returned into the novels.

As for action figures, why didn't you buy one then?  I have the entire crew, even Neelix, and a special edition Harry Kim when he was infected by Species 8472  and the Species 8472 figure.

If you wanted the action figures guess you should have bought some.  I've got Chakotay in uniform and as Maquis, Janeway and Admiral Janeway, and all the others that were made, include two of 7 of 9 as a borg drone.

They were made in 5" size, as well as a larger 9" and 12" size.    

Yes, they were made by Playmates but even so, they were made.   You can still buy them too..  just order online.

As for whether or not Art Asylum/DST makes her..  if they do I'd buy it sure. I have all of the Voyager figures which were made, as well as the larger ones for Janeway, Chakotay, Tuvok, and 7 of 9.   But I have generally stopped buying the action figures.  I do buy the books, and there's nothing at all wrong with saying I support the BBKJ movement to see her returned into the novels.  And as is apparent by replies from others who share the sentiment, I'm not the only one.
