I was always under the impression that Captain Jean Luc Picard was the first to encounter The Borg, thanks to Q... Then I "learned" that Captain Janeway Encountered them just before Picard did...(?)

THEN Enterprise came out and The Borg were found frozen ON EARTH before John Archer was Captain???

Someone PLEASE explane the TRUE sequence of events!!!

Thank You.

You have your info mixxed.

Starfleets first "RECORDED" encounter with the Borg was trew Picard and his crew due to Q's actions.

On the show "Voyager" we see a flashback of the first humans to be assimulated by the Borg, 7 of 9's parents as well as 7 herself.Janeways wasnt there, it was just a flashback.Starfleet never learned of this encounter

Due to the Borg timetraveling to 2063, the year of first contact, some Borg were left on earth, frozen in the artic.

They were discovered around the time J.Archer WAS captain. In fact Archer was called in to investigat the issue, he faced a partically assimulated ship and some Borg, but they never learned that it was the Borg they were dealing with, so Archers records only speak of some mystious robotic alien race they faught with.

Starfleet has No records of the Borg encounters beore that of Picards.

It still doesn't explain why StarFleet didn't know about the Borg given that they were transporting Elaurian refugees several decades earlier even without having direct contact.  Also, the Raven was authorized to investigate the Borg (not just some unnamed cyborgs) before it went missing which indicates that StarFleet did know about the Borg, when Annika Hansen was a child, which predates the encounter at J25 by approximately 10 years, and the Hansens were already calling them Borg.

I still dont see why that has to be explained.

To beging with, how do we know ALL of StarFleet didn't know about the Borg?We only know for sure that Picard and his crew didnt know.As a matter obf fact, evidence suggest that someone in starfleet or the federation must have known a bit about the Borg because someone sent out the Hansens [7's parents] to investigate and learn if the Borg were real.

I wouldnt be supprised if someone in Starfleet intelligence or section 31 took what they learned from the Elaurian refugees, classified it the most top secret and errased all public records and limited access to what was known to only certin admirals.

If it was that much of a secret, then it would not make much sense to send someone who is going to have a "not a toy" cube and discuss the subject openly with their child.  The UFP exobiology dept approved it, and StarFleet still had objections about security, but stopped getting in the way.  This seems a bit too open for Section 31.  Section 31, whatever you may think of its methods was interested in protecting the UFP, and ran numerous black ops missions withholding information about what it was doing.  Why would they silence the crew of 3 or more ships?  How would they keep the Elaurians from talking about what happened to their homeworld?

Sorry, but I just dont see the logic in that conclusion.

The Handsens were described as "outsiders" in the scientific community because of their theories and methods, seems like the perfect type of people to send on such a mission.Speaking "openly" with a child is a hazered many families encounter. It happens often when dealing with single child family units when the child spens all/most of her/his time with adults.

What really was "too open" about it?Seems exactly like the type of thing Section 31 would do.

"How would they keep the Elaurians from talking about what happened to their homeworld?"

Have you ever spoken to a Holocaust survivor? Most arent very eger to talk about their experances with most people. Some only did so near their own deaths decades later and then only in a "official" capacity in a form of a documentary or something else.

Only 47 people were saved from the SS Lakul, some had to be crew members, so lets say only 40 were Elaurians made it off that ship...........and as far as we know there werent any other Elaurians made it to Fedaration space.

Not to mention that Guian described her relationship with ?picard as "closer then friends, closer then family", and she never told Picard about the Borg before the event at J25.

Sorry but it just doesnt seem like it would have taken a lot to keep these people quite.

And what 3 ships are you talking about???The SS Lakul and the other ship transporting refugees were both destroyed, Archer and his crew never learned who they were dealing with.
