Just like Data said: "But I never wanted to compound one... illusion with another. It might be real to Q. Perhaps even you, sir. But it would never be so to me. Was it not one of the Captain's favorite authors who wrote "This above all, to thine own self be true"? Sorry, Commander. I must decline."

Therefore why try fooling yourself with something that isn't real at least in the Star Trek world.

>First I think the question implies that Q is real and if anyone would accept the power if it were real. Second, Riker is a fictional character and the writers would have us believe that a person dedicated to exploration would turn down such powers. I don't think so.

I do. The whole theme of the episode was, "power corrupts". Riker used his new powers without a second thought; I could easily picture him taking things way further, undoubtedly causing lots of trouble whether he originally intended to or not.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

your resistance is futile! Lets say that Jesus is a real person and now lets compare Jesus to Data. Lady Data typed: "Just like Data said: "But I never wanted to compound one... illusion with another. It might be real to Q. Perhaps even you, sir. But it would never be so to me. Which;"Riker relaizwes is mistake. He admits he feels like a fool, and Picard comforts him by confirming that he should."

This is good philosophy just like all that is in the bible, how we interpet these words are very inportant, its what gives us intergity. Intergity is what keeps the triangle standing.  The integrity triangle 1. Is this true? 2. Is this what I believe I should do? 3. Is what I say consistent with what I do?

Then Mitchz95 sums it up well.

First of all how did Jesus Christ get brought up in this conversation? If this is to mock his existence than that's uncalled for because this is not a Religion forum but a Star Trek fan forum. Regardless if Jesus is real or not (which I believe he is real) he made an impact on all Christians to follow God and to have a moral code of what is right and wrong. I guess the only thing the two have in common is that they saved lives. In the Bible it states that Jesus died on the cross for our sins with his blood so that we can be saved and cleansed from sin. Data on the other hand sacrificed himself in Nemesis to save Picard and the crew from an enemy ship.

There are pros and cons to being a Q, but living for a long time, and having time and space bend to your every whim seems to be too much to give up.

Oops sorry for some reason it just looked like a mockery statement about Jesus. Besides it's hard to convence someone about him especially if they are Agnostic/Athiest or an other religion. For those who don't believe in him I'll just let them discover him by themselves and most of the time it works I mean just look at St.Paul and plus I've even heard of real life situations about people who have found him (not physically but spiritually). You can try and try as many times to make them see the light but it won't work. If they don't believe in Christianity then the least they can do is respect those who do instead of bashing them. The same thing goes for Christians who try to force Christianity on other people. A rule of thumb: Never ever bring up religion especially Christianity in a conversation or else you'll have immature douchebags bashing you like no tommorow. Unless the person you are talking to is Christian and shares the same beliefs like you do.

I don't mean to sound like I'm preaching to you or anything but I wanted to make my point clear . Are you a Christian by any chance since you brought up Jesus?

The trouble with having Q powers of course, is: Where would be the satisfaction of success without the challenge of trying for it?

Like the saying goes "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it."

For the first few centuries I wouldn't bother worrying about that.
