I would like for Data, Geordi or Worf to be my No. 1, if they were available. Probably, Riker was the best No. 1, but he should have been promoted to Captain.

Picard. I love Data, but he sees things too black and white. Hmmm... if he had a functional and not malfunctioning emotion chip then I would probably choose Data.

It's a bit of conundrum.

While both Picard and Riker have proven themselves, it is tempting to have a 1st Officer who will follow my every order to the exemplary. And who could easily answer most if not all of my questions/fix or solve pretty much anything. Not to mention the strength and other such factors.

But on the other hand, part of the job of said First Officer is the human aspect of being able to talk me out of dumb or irrational ideas, and I'm not sure Data could handle that aspect {as much as we all apparently like him.}
