Anyone think they'll ever make another Star Trek series?

If so, what would you like to see it be based off of?

I think they should make a post-dominion war series. The Klingon empire is in shambles, as is cardassia. THat leaves 2 remaining powers. The Federation, and the Romulans.

I'd like to see a series about either the Romulans (Maybe a war?)..or maybe another exploration series.

Thoughts?

Although this topic has been done to death, I'll comment.

I too would like to see something with the Romulans, but more like DS9, varied and well written. Post-Dominion would be marvelous. There should be no where to go but forward from the last place the series left off (ENT doesn't count because that was before TOS, or something)

Though one wonders what the new Trek movies will mean for future TV series. Hopefully we won't have to start all over or erase all the history of TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY.

I think we weren't due for another "new series" thread until tomorrow.

Nope, it was made in Black Friday so we got 2 for the price of 1.

Does that mean we are in for a 3rd one, it being "cyber monday" tomorrow and all?

Let's try to get through this without any pepper spray incidents.

I saw that! It's an improvement over the tramppling at Wal-Mart 2 years ago at least.

Makes one wonder what the Black Friday of the Klingons is like.

I'm actually surprised it took this long for a thread to show up. I've been on the boards a week or so, and this is the first one.

What I'd like to know is, what do the Klingon Empire and the Cardassians have to do with the potential for a new series?

What I'd like to know is why people keep suggesting series that are "post dominion war" and have all these fanwanky galactic politics / interstellar warfare themes? Seriously...is this really what the majority of Star Trek fans want to see these days?

Apparently, that is exactly what the majority of Star Trek fans want to see. Or at least the most vocal fans. Or maybe just the ones who post on message boards about their hopes for the next series. Just about every premise I've read for a future series or movie involves galactic politics and interstellar warfare. It gets a bit repetitive.

Make it good. Don't rush it to release. That's what I would ask for.

I honestly think a post Dominion War time period -- or even post-Nemesis, post-Voyager, whatever... -- is a fairly logical place to start. Some kind of epic political backdrop might work, as long as it can be well established in a story that still focuses on character development.

I've heard it said: A good character in a terrible plot is bad enough. But a good plot with terrible characters is worthless.

"The Klingon empire is in shambles, as is cardassia. That leaves 2 remaining powers. The Federation, and the Romulans."

So, basically as Sloan postulated in Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges, then. (And in its way similar to the rise of the two Cold War powers after WW2.)

Some thoughts: (addenda) For my part, still firmly entrenched on the "Wouldn't say no" fence. I'd be willing to go into any new Trek with an open mind. You know, I know, everyone knows by now (no doubt) that whatever a new series ends up being will be hated by some. Meanwhile there is plenty of new material for whatever takes your fancy.

When people say Post-Dominio War, is that right after?

I think he need a lenghty time skip, Not the 80 years for TNG, but maybe 40, that way allowing for TNG-Era guest stars with just a need for makeup, rather than Time travel, Transporter, or Anomaly filled plot points.
