Chapel, Rand, and Kyle were all recurring characters in the original series and each made at least one appearance in a movie.  Shouldn't they show up somewhere on the Enterprise in the next film, and if so how important to the story should they be?

Rand and Chapel should appear as I think they need more girls to balance the ship out.

Except that the girls need to be less lame and 'in love' with the male leads. Or at least hide it better. I don't want Chapel drooling over Spock - it would just be embarressing .

I would like to see Nurse Chapel have a bigger part in the next movie as it would also be a really great tribute to Majel Barrett -- since she was in Star Trek from the very beginning and even did the computer voice for the 2009 movie.

Nurse Chapel was apparantly in the first one though she didn't have any lines.  I'd like to see Rand's beehive in the next one but was surprised this past year when I watched tos all the way through how few episodes rand is actually in.

She was in the scene where McCoy replaced the former (dead) CMO I think...

I would like to see her have a bigger role in the next one.

How do you know that was supposed to be Chapel and not some unidentified female medical crewmember?  IMDb doesn't have anyone listed as that character, so I'm going to assume that Chapel wasn't in the movie.

Chapels name was called out by McCoy, would be nice to see her, but in motion pictures with a two hour story telling time (maybe more) you can't expect every single character to have a walk on or a few words...but if it serves the story, then sure why not.

Then again it could be possible that any other given character may not even exist because one or both of their parents could have been some one who died on the Kelvin, or as a result they never meet to have said child because the families moved on into different directions not taken in the prime time line.

McCoy calls her by name. And it comes up repeatedly in interweb and other discussions that R2, Chapel, a tribble, and various other things were in the movie.

I still don't understand how one can make a movie of Kirk at the academy and NOT include Finnegan.

We need Chapel to start pushing McCoy around, we cant let him run himself into the ground now, can we?

But there should also be somekind of background on her...so she is a solid character, and not a filler.
