I got picked on at school, though frankly I was so small, to them eventually they just stopped, as I didn't run and cry, fight back or anything. Just let the situation be and then it was over, quicker than ever. When you don't give people satisfaction, they'll go somewhere else usually. Bullying is wrong but it will probably always be around, they're usually kids and kids are stupid.
Though I was never beat up, so I don't have any experience on that side of bullying, usually just being called gay(I'm not), tripped or something similar. I was an outsider a true outsider, so to them, I was nothing I guess and was useless to even bother with.
The worst I ever took was a newspaper ad for gay people taped to the back of my jacket and being tripped in the hallway, the guy even looked at me, expecting a response, but I didn't give him one and kept going about my business and it never happened again.
At home I wouldn't talk about, I would just go about my life as if it never happened, which in essence it didn't, you just can't let people like that get to you, that's what they feed off of and I didn't feed them.
The only other bully situation I can think of was twice guys driving trucks tried to splash me by driving threw a big puddle, but the water just went right around me, that made me feel awesome that day. Knowing that they tried, thinking they succeded, yet it didn't and they didn't know.
As for advice dealing with bullies, my experience shows me to just not give them satisfaction, laugh with them if you have to, they'll get confused wondering why you are laughing and that makes it even funnier, as long as you keep it inside. Do whatever you can to not give them satisfaction, they will lose interest and go somewhere more interesting. Bad things come around, just takes time.
Learn the art of fighting without fighting, yeah I'm a Bruce Lee fan. Hope it helps. Just don't give them satisfaction, that's all I can really say.

i think thats damn good advise.

Assuming it works. Which it doesn't.
|
In my experience, it does. In fact it was the only thing that did.
|
I have very poor gross motor co-ordination, hypertight ligaments, and mild dyspraxia so it never worked for me. The fact being, people who say "hit them and they'll go away" are assuming a level of physical proficiency on the part of everyone that (through no fault of their own) some people just don't have.

Bullying is bad enough, but [icking on someone who can not defend themself is the worst. Those kinds of bullies are the ones that need a good asswhopping!

I wish my english teacher would have spanked me, I was such a bad bad student.
|
Same!
It was because of the unruly classroom.
What type of student would I be if I didn't fit in?
Bunch of bullies!

It's strange, being a catalyst for things that move outside.

Bullies like to accumulate in groups.
Kids at a very young age, can carry a weapon.
The consequences aren't so conscientious these days.
