Doesn't Odo sound like he's growling?

When I watch DS9, I can't help but notice that every time Odo speaks, it's as if he were the predator to Quark as his prey. Surely, everyone else has noticed.

Course he sounds like he's growling. He is a very gruff character -- and particularly to Quark.

Noticed ages ago that Rene Auberjonois changed his voice for the part. (A little less in the earlier episodes; he sounds a little shaky at times in the early part of season one.) But I didn't know that it was news.

I was gobsmacked when I heard Rene's real voice. He really IS a good actor.

Always, and he growls so very well too; he sounds like a genuine tough-guy, not a poser who affects a growl to seem tough.

I just want him to tell Quark: "get off my lawn!" XD Really though I absolutely love Auberjonois voice, normal his speaking voice, Odo's voice, and his beautiful version of a New Orleans aristocrat, all are completely fantastic, and very expressive.

I like the growl. It adds to the character.

“How can you be chatting about skin lotion at a time like this!?"

Odo gets the best lines!

And my personal favorite (so far anyhow,) "Procreation does not require changing how you smell or writing bad poetry, or sacrificing various plants to serve as tokens of affection."

The one that I always like so much (because I guess I can relate--- I've had so many similar conversations with my parents.)

Exactly. It is quite spectacular and "get-off-my-lawn"-esque with just a hint of delicious and cute.

I liked when he said it while Curzon embodied him during the Dejarra in "Facets".
