Aren't people allowed to interpret Star Trek as they wish. Some people can see their slash relationship in certain things Spock and Kirk do and in certain things they say to each other.[/quote]

Some things are open to interpretation.  Art is very subjective.   But imagining a romantic involvement where there isn't one isn't interpreting, its plain wrong.  Mind you, I'm not saying morally wrong but incorrect because it isn't true.  It changes the meaning of their relationship to imply s level of intimacy that simply doesn't exist.

Some crazies seem to think two men can't have a deep bond of friendship without it being sexual.

No, they aren't gay.  Yes, Kirk has a girl in every port and Spock has had a few, but seems to Quote~ "have little interest for them" ~Unquote

As for that, if one reads about Vulcan and love, they do feel love but they tend to keep it more 'logical' and only express it in small ways.  Sarek loved Amanda.  And Nu Spock loves Nu Uhura.  Prine Spock, at least in the books, has been married and has felt love for the opposite sex.

Just because Spock doesn't wear his libido on his sleeve like Kirk does, doesn't mean he is gay or not.  It just means that Vulcans as a rule tend to keep love, as well as other emotions, inside and not for public view.

For the record, not only no, but HELL, NO!

It seems to me that the biggest proponents of the K/S pairing are:

a) bored housewives who just get their jollies by imagining two hot guys getting hot and sweaty together, and have no clue how gay relationships work in the first place, and

b) wannabe gay activists who think everybody's either gay or in denial, and this is their way to sticking it in our faces.

REALITY CHECK:  Two heterosexual males can form a deep personal friendship WITHOUT IT TURNING INTO A GAY LOVE AFFAIR!

QFT.  The slash stuff is just dirty.  It isn't about love or romance.  It is about sex.  The people who write and enjoy it are probably the same people who complain about hetero males watching girl on girl stuff.  Like you say, it actually degrades gay rights by making homosexuality about the sex while degrading straight men saying they can't have good friends without being attracted to them.

Hey now, us believers in purple unicorn solar fusion reactions do not appreciate having aspersions cast upon our beliefs.

Noir, I suggest you watch out for solar flares.  BTW, will they interfere with Kelinda-bot's operating system?

Solar Unicorn/Fairy Isometric Oscillations tends to render the Kelinda-bot inhibition chip useless. I'm working on that, but no fix at the moment.

No problem.  In a mirror universe thread from a few months back, Mirror Matthias Russell was trying to become emperor of the mirror st.com boards.  Mirror Treknoir, his faithful leutenant (or so he thought ), made him an army of Kelinda love-bot slaves that were continually upgraded with new software (they kept breaking ).

Just because they were good friends, now does that make them gay? This society we live in so quick to accuse men of being gay.

I read once it was partly women fans who couldn't get to them, thus calling them that.

Shatner once said that they couldn't have been, as Spock only comes into season every 7 years.

Are we going to start with this all over again. We all have an opinion on Kirk and Spock. I for one do believe that there was some homoerotic tendencies on the series between these two. The way Kirk invaded Spock's personal space, how he touched him often, when Vulcans as a rule don't like to be touched. And Spock in his own way expressed his own feelings to Kirk. How is voice was less cold towards him compared to others he adressed. Seriously, you don't have to imagine them being intimate. But, you cannot deny that there was chemistry between these two.

On another note....I just happened to miss a very special day celebrated by us Kirk/Spock fans. It was created in 1997. Kirk/Spock day. Now, i know of two dates. The other is September 15th. Mark my words, next time I won't forget it.

I'll just mention that Kirk couldn't have been gay, because of all the affairs he had with those various women. Some were just to an extent. There was Drusilla, Marta, Nona, Miramanee, Deela, Odona, Andrea, Sylvia, Rayna Kapec, Kelinda, Dr. Helena Noel, Dr. Janet Wallace, Areel Shaw, Dr. Janice Lester, Eve McHuron, Marlena Moreau, Shahna, Elaan, Edith Keeler, Lenore Karidian, and Janice Rand. (That's from 'Captain Kirk's guide to women' by John 'Bones' Rodriguez.)

Incidentally, I once read that the TV series character who had the most number of affairs with women was J.R. Ewing in 'Dallas', or nickname 'Dull-us'.

With Spock, it was a case of being emotionally inhibited. And so, being in control of e.g. sexual desires, not vice versa. Thus, regarding others as people, rather than as men or women.

We also shouldn't suppress our emotions, like the Vulcans, but be in control of them, not vice versa.
