Kirk and Spock are just close friends but not gay - that is plainly obvious and I cannot understand why this ridiculous topic is still on the first page of the TOS forum - and yes, i know i just bumped it to the top by writing this but i cannot contain myself any longer.
Just drop it and let this topic die please, i think it puts all Trekkies to shame for it to have attracted so much interest compared to much more interesting topics that have some evidence to support them...

People can talk about whatever. Ignore it if you don't like it. Problem solved.

Basically, OtakuJo. Folks can whine and complain all they want but K/S has been around since the beginning of ST. It's all speculation about fictional beings. No one living, past or present, is being harmed by this thread. I for one would love to never see another "who's hotter" or awful ST mash-up concept thread. But, what control do I have? Zero.
It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want. - Spock

Frankly I'm surprised this topic's gone on 18 pages when the subject is clearly a troll.

I don't think that they were "gay". If anything, their bond was like that of brothers. I recall in ST (3?) that Kirk mentioned to Spock that he lost a brother once, but got him back(paraphrase). Then we see their friendship show real strength and tenacity in ST 2009, where it is tested across space and time.

Me neither. I'm pretty neutral on this issue actually but have been enjoying the debate (rather like the various religion threads that pop up over at 10F.) I'm not into nerd-fights at all (Who would win in a fight between Data and Flutterby, and that kind of thing)... so just tend not to click on them. Leave others to their discussion.

Kirk LOVED the ladies, and Spock only feels the urge every 7 years, and I have only seen him go for females. YOu may have noticed young SPock kissing Uhura at the end of the most recent movie? Case closed.

I seriously don't know when the debate will end...First and foremost...we love Star Trek..We are all united because of this show...all of us...but some of us...not everyone...just certain people will find something between the two characters, that other people won't...No one can force them to see it...it just happens. So, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...and we shouldn't judge them for it.
I am a Star Trek fan, and I am a Kirk/Spock shipper.
Peace everyone.........

but it's a puzzle to me. I could understand it if our fellow fans who are gay were the authors - to reclaim a beloved story that didn't reflect much of their lives
just don't relate to the motivation of the mainly women authors

NO, they are not. That's just a bunch of bull that some immature teenage girls must have dreamed up. They try to confirm that their perverted fantasies are real with "quotes" and that "t'hy'la" word. Then they make their fanarts and stories...and you do not want to know what's in them. Trust me, it is nasty. Don't they think about the children? Kids like Star Trek, too!
What gets under my skin is that they start arguments with you and call you mean names if you don't like it. So we're "stupid, immature homophobes" just because we don't want XXX-rated junk spoiling our childhood shows that we've known and loved throughout the years?
Those are not true Trekkies, folks. Remember that.

was reading an article the other day on fanfic becomming mainstream thanks to 50shades, and that publishers are now looking to expand the genre. among the proposed titles are holmes and watson (gay romance), wuthering heights (bdsm romance), jayne eyre (bdsm romance) and kirk/spok (gay romance). these proposals are based on popular fan fiction thats around at the moment and the interpretations of popular novels/films/programes/series by their audiences. it does not nescissarily have a basis in the original story line, just a 'what if' by people who love the characters. the questions have been around for a while and now are becomming public focus, hence they are being talked about and discussed.
from my own interpretations of tos, films and series, kirk and spock are not gay, but what goes on behind closed doors is anyones fanfiction franchise and doesn''t change my enjoyment of trek at all.

Kirk's long list of conquests speaks to his hetero nature. Spock is Vulcan and lives most of his life outside of any sexual activity. The Abrams movie and a few scenes here and there in TOS suggest that he is also hetero. Let's expand Trek with more of the same of what has made it great and not just embrace some new fad.

Clearly no. Kirk and even Spock were clearly hetero. They were good friends, sure, but never on a sexual level. James Tiberius was far too busy bedding the alien chick of the week.
