There is one Republican candidate that wants to do this...

Stimulus money to people who already have millions? Are you kidding? This was a payoff!

By using a rediculus image how can I take it seriously?

Even given the over-exagerrated scene the image comes from, the context is rage. If you are so easy to dismiss it for no reason than that you want to find fault, then the appropriate question becomes how am I supposed to take YOU seriously?

I have never seen that picture used in a serious manner either a humorus or mocking manner. If you are truely serious then I apologize for my assumption.

The auto industry like the banks should never have been bailed out. It creates a HUGE moral hazard down the road when the bailout will be 100 times bigger. Let losers fail!

Just goes to show that there aren't any real political groups, since there all the same, represent the same people, implement the same policy.

Well, there are multiple political groups across the spectrum, but the two major political "parties" in the US are really two heads with the same agenda.
"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the bums out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy. Either party in office becomes in time corrupt, tired, unenterprising, and vigorless. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years if necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still persue, with new vigor, approximately the same basic policies." -- Carroll Quigley, "Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time"

>Hopefully, the feds will find ways to stop the big ripoffs within the Defense Department. Unlike your attitude about entitlements, I don't consider defense spending to be "100%...waste". Much of what we spend on defense for homeland security is legitimate. We do need some capability of striking back at terrorists that are based in what use to be called Third World countries. I just suspect that we can provide all of that at a much lower cost than the price we now pay.

Make up my mind about entitlements? When have I not been clear that they are unConstititutional and illogical???
And most seniors, if they would have been allowed to save their own money (instead of having it taken from them,) they'd have a lot more for their retirement than what the government is handing out now.
|
I'm sympathetic to your premise but the facts don't support it....social security was begun precisely because people DIDN'T save for retirement in the decades before social security was instigated. I do recall how common it was in the 60s to see seniors who didn't own pets buying dog food.
Personally I've done it both ways and looking at my 401k(s) I don't find a lot to crow about personal plans. The college trust I set up for my nephew 12 years ago has less money in it than what I actually contributed. I can decide to keep working more years - we can't send the kid to college when he's 25!!
