Everyone:

Let's simplify:  some are using the term entitlements to mean benefits paid to recipients who made no investment in the funds they later got; most social programs:  unemployment, social security, medicare etc. were funded (yeah by government mandate) by payments over many years from the recipients salaries or taxes.

Our problem today is that the funds paid in won't cover the funds needed in the outyears. The system needs a major adjustment.

But that is an enormous difference between regarding our retirees, military veterans, unemployed (some of whom were working 20-25 year) etc as moochers.  Just saying............

You can't "adjust" an idea that was never meant to do what they advertised it to.  That's like saying that we need to "adjust" the program of sending an elephant into space using a rubberband.

The whole idea of the entitlement system is the government telling people that they are too stupid and irresponsible to plan for their own lives, so the government will do that for them.  And then they add on the class warfare telling those with less money that they are entitled to steal the money earned by those that have more.

Both of those ideas are seriously flawed, but still perpetrated after a century of propoganda.  The end goal is the enslaving of the people by the government.

According to the Sanate Budget Committee, the government spent ~$1.03 TRILLION on 83 means-tested federal welfare programs in fiscal year 2011 alone — a price tag that makes welfare the government’s largest expenditure that year.

Note:  The Congressional Research Service said the number is $745.84 BILLION (a 32% increase the last four years), but the Senate added all state spending on Federal Welfare programs, adding another $282.7 billion.

(And before anyone asks..... The data excludes entitlement spending on Social Security, Medicare, medical care for veterans without service-connected disabilities, and veterans pension program.)

And like the government planned....

In 2011, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the combined number of people enrolled in Medicare and Medicade totalled 119,249,000.....  but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were only 112,556,000  full time workers....

For those on who don't do math...... this means that there are more people receiving entitlements than full time workers paying for them....

If you don't think this disaster was planned, I can only ask that you start reading history.

That's what happens when you constantly cut funding from education: a bunch of uneducated people who are barely qualified to work at McDonalds and have no choice but to apply for welfare and other such programs simply to get by.

You should be happy, BamBam. This is exactly what you've been fighting for.

And yet spending per student has increase over 300%  not to mention actual spending http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,2035999,00.html

Yep - and something I learned recently is that in the last few decades, class size has dropped dramatically - about in half - down to 15.8 students per teacher on average (per Dept. of Ed.).... but test scores continue to go down.

But as one of the executives of the teacher union said (I've shared the video before), they're not there for the students - they're there for "power."

Yea... in today's economy, a lot of people are going the disability route just so they can have some income.  I wish I could say the lack of ethics surprised me, but it really doesn't.

Information has come out from the Congressional Research Service that the what the US spent on welfare in 2011 to give every "poor" household nearly $60,000!

Now this really does NOT surprise me.... NY Governor is asking that the other states, via the Federal government, pay 100% of the estimated $6 BILLION to clean up and repair damages related to Sandy.

Note:  Us taxpayers already paid ~ 75% of the $1.2 BILLION it took to clean up after Irene last year.

Oh, and not to be left out, both US Senators from NJ are asking for their own bailout.

I guess they don't like that Bush did his own redistribution of wealth after Katrina and it didn't go to them.

Too bad our current presidents don't understand what Grover Cleveland did - he understood that the Constitution didn't allow for this.
