Just watched First Contact and forgot how good it was.

Maybe its me, but I didnt rate Nemesis very much.

What does everyone else think?

I think most people here will rate First Contact much higher than Nemesis. It was a far superior film and I felt Nemesis could have been so much better.

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

Yeah, I agree. I was 13 when Nemesis came out, and I absolutley loved the film. But I was 13 and easy to please. But now that I'm older I see that Nemesis while still enjoyable is quite flawed.

But yes Nemesis is one of the most hated Star Trek films if not the most hated. It's most likely between The Motion Picture, The Final Frontier and Nemesis. Again I love all 10 films. Star Trek 2009 is my least favorite film personally, but Nemesis does have it's flaws.

Have you watched TMP the Director's cut? It has some new effects and flows a bit better. It helped me bring up my estimation of that movie a lot. Of course as a kid I thought it was long and boring but it is really a good piece of science fiction even if it it just a retelling of the Episode 'the Changeling'.

I'm with you Sora, except for the bit about Star Trek IX.

I enjoy Nemesis after a fashion but I was dissappointed when I left the theatres. Now First Contact... love love love it, my favorite Trek movie, because it made the Borg frightening for me. Which of course once I finally saw TNG's earlier Borg I was like WTF.

ST: V was such crap, I like it, but it was awful because Sybok pissed me off. That Enterprise could traverse THOUSANDS of light years in few hours, the great barrier $#!+, aliens believe in God; all humans don't even believe in him, that Romulan woman pissed me off being so damn chipper, but aside from that...

TMP remastered was a 100% improvement!

I want to see a character that isn't labeled as 'gay' have a nice, normal romance with no hint of prejudice, no allegory and no message at all. Just put it there, like it happens all the time and no one gives a damn, which is exactly how it should be. I don't want a story about how no one understands them or how society isn't accepting, just have it happen. ~ SLagonia

Gotta admit I love First Contact over Nemesis. Although, I loved the incorporation of the Remans and updated Romulan Warbirds. Thought the Picard clone concept was a bit too much. Would have loved to have seen Reman-Jem'Hadar fights in the Dominion War.

And although I may be slapped for this, I think Generations is underrated. LOVE the Nexus.

I loved First Contact; great special effects and character moments. My fav scene was when Picard, Whorf, and the dude who played Dum-Dum Dugan in Captain America  stop the Borg from calling reinforcements with the deflector dish. "Assimilare this !" Greatest line in the film!

I've never even seen Nemesis, nor do I intend to. I've heard nothing but bad things.

Maybe for Tom Hardy; I'm a big comic book fan, and seeing how he's playing Bane in the next Batman movie I'd be curious to see how he does as a villain.

So the villains are the Romulans? I must say they make for great villains, even moreso than Klingons.

I think Zephraim Cochrane's character provided some of the highlights in First Contact, between taking a stun blast in the back to playing Steppenwolf as he blasts off, just fun to watch.  Worf in the TNG movies didn't get much more than a bone thrown to him...here are a few Klingony lines.

Nemesis seems to be hated almost as much as 2009.  It is still worth watching at least twice.  I watch as much for the ships as for the people, and the Scimitar didn't disappoint.

I liked Nemesis a lot.  It's my favorite of the Next Gen films.  Although it does borrow a bit from Wrath of Khan, Shinzon was a great villain, and I loved the wholed Romulan/Reman conflict, and the character of Donatra.  The battle at the end is one of the all time great Trek battle scenes.

First Contact delivered on action...but introducing the Borg queen really damaged the concept of the Borg.  They were a lot more frightening as a faceless collective moving through space like locusts.

I assume you refer to J.J. Abrams' newest Trek film? While it has more plot holes than a Michael Bay film (okay, maybe not that many) I thought it was rather well liked. I enjoyed it, gaping plot holes aside.

In my opinion, Nemesis fell victim to bad timing, coming out the same year as blockbusters such as Spider-man.

I don't think that Nemesis can hold a candle to First Contact. First Contact scared the living crap out of me as a child, and still does to this day. It was a well written, interesting, action packed, emotional rollercoaster for me.

Although I really can appreciate Nemesis from an acting and technical standpoint. It's a very well made film. But...the writing wasn't all that to call home about. To this day the only things about Nemesis that I really liked was B4 and the marriage of Riker and Troi.

Both good films, but First Contact > Nemesis.

I think we can all agree that as bad as Nemesis seemed, it wasn't as bad as JJ Abrams awful reboot.

Let's face it, Jonathan Frakes is a bold, visionary director ...

He knows this cast better than any other STAR TREK director
and he really brought out the best in their performances. They
all looked fantastic in his movies, as well. I'm not a big fan of
Time Travel or the Borg, especially, but Frakes took these very
familiar elements and made great entertainment out of it. But
Nemesis' use of familiar elements only came off as repetitive and
unimaginative. Why? I think we all know the answer to that: No
Jonathan Frakes at the helm.
