Umm Stargate was good through the first 6 or 7 seasons but after awhile I was just watching out of habit. Atlantis, I liked it early on. Lt. Ford was quite nice to look at but like Mayweather not the best actor so Ronin was a nice replacement. I was really warming to Universe, shame it got cancelled.

Star Wars... I'll watch it but it never moved me like Trek and that probably had more to do with the volume of Trek than Trek being simply superior.

all three are, IMO, the greatest sci-fi sagas of all time. though i do have to rank Trek as the better of the three of them with Gate in a close second, mainly for the reason that there is more visual stuff with Trek and Gate then there is with Wars.

1. Star Trek (for obvious reasons)

2. Stargate (I engoyed seasons 1-8 of SG-1, Mitchell ruined it for me. Atlantis was great, and Universe was pretty bad.)

3. Star Wars ( Wasnt really a movie to me, doesnt compare.)

William Shattner released a video on youtube on the 15th detailing his thoughts on the reasons Star Trek is better than Star Wars.

1.  Star Trek was more about relationships and humanity and stories.

2.  Star Wars was about special effects and ILM tainted the reality of it.

3.  Now that JJ Abrams has introduced special effects to the new generation of Star Trek films Star Wars doesn't have anything to stand on.

The video is pretty good and CPT Kirk was good natured about the ribbing he gave to Star Wars.

You know what burned me up about Stargate?  I'll try to make this concise, but no promises.

1)  No matter what part of Earth or what time period humans were taken offworld by the Goa'uld, they all spoke modern English.  I admit the UT is a crutch for the sake of convenience, but at least it was there.

2)  How many times did SG-1 step onto a primitive or uninhabited planet?  Of those times, how many times was the uninhabited or undeveloped planet host to a gate surrounded by what appeared to be a manicured lawn?

3) Want a Stargate challenge?  Every time Teal'c is captured, take a drink.

4)  Zat'nikitels (or however you spell them) -- Stun weapons are nice, but why do they sometimes stun one person for several minutes, another for a few seconds?  Or sometimes they stun the same person for greatly varying amounts of time.

5)  The Replicators (or as my nephew calls them, "evil legos") were beat to death.  How many scenes involve a corridor either on a ship or in Cheyenne Mountain where countless replicators are marching forward through a barrage of lead?  How many bullet holes or even scratches on the wall are evident afterward?

I'm not anti-Stargate, I own the entire series.  I lived for several years in Colorado Springs, so it was fun to watch a show set in your hometown.

6)  Speaking of Colorado Springs...poor research!!  In one episode Carter says she wanted to take Pete to the zoo, but there isn't one in Colorado Springs.  Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been there for years.  You literally CANNOT get to NORAD without going by the zoo.

I'll stop, pardon my rant.

Star Trek hands down. But I will admit I really haven't seen much of Stargate. My dad loved it, but it just didn't do much for me. I never saw Stargate universe at all actually.

But Star Wars is just

As a fan of all three, here's my take:

Stargate:

-Just finished watching SG-1, slowly filling in what I missed from Atlantis, and I haven't yet touched Universe.

Sg-1 was good.  There were FAR too many filler episodes in the first few seasons, and a decent pace started to appear near the end of season five.  I was annoyed by how things lagged sometimes.  It's like:

"Oh, we're going to be destroyed by Apophis/Anubis/the Ori any second now.  Let's explore a random-ass planet that has nothing on it, and will in no way help us in defeating the enemy"

But apart from that, I loved it.  Apart from Apophis, all of the bad guys were pretty well-written bad guys.  Character development was good, Ben Browder and Claudia Black were nice additions to the show, IMO, and there was always some intruiging action going on.

Atlantis...it's alright, though the bad acting can get annoying at times (f*ckin' Dr. Weir)

Star Wars:  I like the movies.  Just like, not love.  I watch one every now and then.  I also am slightly fond of Star wars novels (Slightly in the sense that some are really good, some are really bad)

Star Trek:  Some episodes can get a bit boring for me, but usually, Star Trek is a show that makes me forget about life's worries.  Therefore it wins

yeah universe was pretty bad..even worse than DS9

how can you compare DS9 to Universe? DS9 was a much better show.

A better question is how do you compare Star Trek to Star Wars?  The only thing they have in common is they're in space.

Well...that and obnoxious child actors.

Besides, Babylon 5 is still better.  And the first season of Seaquest.
