It means DAD to me because everything star trek stands for my Dad did and My first memories of my father was of him and I sitting in the livingroom on friday nights watching the newest eppisode of Star Trek. I feel Star Trek put a loving father/son bond that is unmatched by others.....

I was 11 years old and in a body cast for a broken femur when I found Trek and the rest is history.
But what Star Trek means to me is hope, hope for my future, hope for and end to poverty, famine and disease, and hope for mankind.
I spent 14 weeks in bed for that injury and Star Trek helped to keep me from becoming depressed. Trek has shaped my life in ways I cannot express. Because of Star Trek I am a kinder gentler person.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one. I wish we all lived by this creed.

Star Trek was always a favorite show of mine as a child. When I was little I thought that the characters and world of star trek was going to be a reality and that scientists all over the world were really striving for that in their research.

Star Trek has always meant exploration, of all kinds. What's out there to learn and what's inside ourselves.

Star Trek is a vision of a future where mankind has -- mostly -- got it right, eradicated prejudice and war (except when necessary as Klingons, Romulans, Borg (resistence is not always futile) and others learned to their detriment. It offers hope for the future and speaks to people of many levels, from pure adventure to deep spirituality.

Forum contests aren't really my cup of tea because n00bs almost never win, but I'll try anyay. Because this would be an awesome xmas gift for my boyfriend!
Star Trek, to me, means the past, present, and future..
The past because I watched as a kid
The present because my boyfriend and I watch and rewatch together now
The future because I will be watching with my daughter.
Star Trek is timeless and will forever be a part of me.

It helped me understand that working all together is a lot better than working against each other. We can build a beter world this way. A lot of leaders should learn from this.

Been a fan since watching the original as an adolescent. Remember the uncontainable excitement upon hearing that "The Motion Picture" was a reality! Still get excited going to see a new movie/episode. It's just the overall optimistic Human experience.

Star Trek means diversity, hope, acceptence and a future we can all make for ourselves. It's an idea that promotes respect, peace and diplomacy. If Gene Roddenberry can think it up, there is hope for us as the inhabitants of our planet Earth. One day such a wonderful and bright future can exist. Star Trek has captured my imagination and shaped who I am, my morals and how I view the world. It means the world to me and I love Star Trek with all of my heart.

Star Trek to me is an escape from our world to one that you can be the smartest, the bravest, or just be the one to watch in awe as a golden wraped story unfolds.
