Star Trek evokes a spirit of adventure, taking the viewer along for the ride, and speaking to our human condition with every mission the crews go on. Beyond that, the simple enjoyment of feeling a kinship with the ensemble casts, as if we've gotten to know them over the years.

To me, Star Trek is how it should be now and in the future--IDIC in all its glory!  We are all humans here and shouldn't be seperated by color of skin or where we live or even what we believe.

Star Trek. What does it mean? What does it mean to me? To the world?

Ever since my father sat me down in front of the TV years ago and put on the Original series, it's had a special place in my heart. Watching the episodes over and over again and seeing all of the everso amazing battles and confusing problems the crew has had to deal with have engrained in me a real feeling for the show and the characters. In each crew member, we see a different view point that links directly back to the real world, and that makes a point. The lessons that are put out, the ways things are done, not only do they entertain greatly, but they truly make us think.

Human kind can learn from this show. Out of all of the things that are present, a good set of values really comes forth. Compassion, reason, acceptance, and bravery all make their appearnce in a balanced way which teaches the viewer about the different aspects of life. "Be kind to those around you, look out for one another, and think your problems through. You may face adverse conditions, but if you put your mind to it, you can make it out okay." That's what the show says to me, on the grand scale.

Along with the message of what the human spirit should strive for, there really is a note of advancement. Technoligy, the human condition, and many other things come into play. Numerous technological devices have come about from the drive given to little kids interested in science by the show and the societal urge to live up to this cultural phenomenon's example. If this drive did not exist from such a prominent, enjoyable source, where might we be? There is a strong argument that the cellphone might not be so popular if not for Kirk and his communicator.

Speaking of little kids, how many have been moved by this show? So many have gone on to become what they wanted, be it an engineer, an astronaut, or even a teacher. Many careers have started from this, even ones that don't seem related, because of the incentive to progress like the show gives us. Make the best out of yourself, and bring others with you.

The show means so much to me as an individual, it's hard to phathom what it means to the world.

Star Trek means that we humans should be excited for the future, not afraid.

Star Trek, simply put, is an little piece of unconditional (and unintentional!) love that lingers strongly through one's lifetime, start to finish. It is a vessel that carries the care-free nature and imaginary joys of childhood through every single moment of life. Star Trek is always ready to be needed and enjoyed just as much as the first time it was experienced. A friend that never gets old...just better

It's a few things...one is that it reminds you that it's ok to use your imagenation, even as an adult. Another is that doing the right thing doesn't always mean a happy ending.

Star Trek was always a optimistic view of the future, a belief that things will be better and if i wanted to, anything is possible.

Star Trek means happy memories and sound philosophy.  I remember watching shows and movies with my dad and his poster, "Everything I need to know, I learned from Star Trek". The basic ideas of how we treat others when greed and personal growth are out of the equation is a flawless execution of "The Golden Rule".

> Star Trek means, a new begining to life. Without Gene Rodenberry's dreams of the future and mankind, along with the technology that he had introduced to the world that everyone in the 60's & 70's and today thought to be obserd ( comp., lasers, sliding doors, palm pads, ect.) is now a reallity.  ST taught us to except mankind for who we are, and paved the way for many races.  I've grown up with ST over the past 40 years and with every day that passes puts us one step closer to Gene's goal .. TO BODELY GO WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE .... Thank you Gene ......

Star Trek.   I believe that using the "lessons" in each episode teaches me to be a better person, doesn;'t matter which series or movie.  Not many story franchises can say that.  Star Trek has also9 managed to stay current with the "now" the past and the future.  Amazing.

It taught me to be patient for the arrival of other-worldly beings.

Star Trek means a lot to me not only as a science fiction franchise but also as a positive vision for humanity.  It saved my life in many ways and it was a pleasure to know James Doohan growing up giving me a more personal connection with Star Trek.  I think Trek is so important to me that in 2010 I released a new fan film called Star Trek: Phoenix.  That's how much I believe in the vision of Gene Roddenberry.
