Star Trek inspired me to become an aerospace engineer and helps me to see there is more to the universe than we can possibly know.

Star Trek for me is accepting all beings, but not letting anyone hurt us or others.  And that we can eventually become alies with our enemies, yet not let our enemies overcome us

To me, Star Trek is all about acceptance and bravery. Being brave enough to be who you are and doing what you honestly think is right and fair. And to accept everyone else for who they are and what they believe, even if it's different from your own views.

It also, and this is a bit more important, inspired my college career choice in Physics/Astrophysics/Nuclear Physics (still debating between Astro and Nuclear).

Star Trek in many ways defines science fiction for me. Star Trek has inspired my love of all things technological, and helped inspire my choice of career as a computer engineer and computer scientist.  The Star Trek universe is much like the Greek idea of Utopia to me; unattainable, but a goal worthy of striving for in order to always improve ourselves.

The ideaology of Star Trek... Is our future. I myself cannot make that happen. It will take all of us.

I've used that ideaology in my life to become a better person. I look at this world and see the future of what it will be, and what I can do to get us there. I can only effect my little patch of this world... but its still a building block. One that with all the others out there, can make anything happen!

IDIC says it all for me: infinite diversity in infinite combinations.  This applies to everything - math, science, religion, humanity.
