Sometimes this is what saves him and his crew, but when he's clearly wrong and just being stupid he's got a whole crew to snap him out of it.

I think he Listen to Kirk about not letting them and staying Captain cause as long as he is captain he can make a difference, Just as Kirk did plus Picard Love the Stars and could never stop Exploring the Federation would be screwed without having Picard Out there. There were Three Great Captain as far as I am concerned There Archer, Kirk and Picard. Janeway was great as well but she is Admiral now and Sisko is with the Prophets.

I believe he was in All good things. but after Generations he wouldn't have let them promote him beause of what Kirk said to him.
The Federation is the only hope humanity has left.

I don't believe that was the same Archer. There is the age issue. Plus, didn't Archer go on to be a UFP president or am I thinking of a book?

Archer becoming president technically comes from the Biographic data presented on the screen of a terminal Mirror Archer is looking at on the Defiant. That particular graphic was never photographed in the episode...or it was editted out before airing the episode. Because of that it falls under non-canon, but only by the slightest of margins.

I dont see how either issue indicates its not the same Archer.
1] age is a non issue in the trek universe
2]so what if he was President at some point?He could have returned to service after that,
