Not only is this a poor finale its just not a very good episode overall. I think William Shatner's overacting is almost unwatchable. He did a much better job in "The Enemy Within". I also find "Turnabout Intruder" to be sexist in that Janice Lester blamed all her problems on the fact that she is a woman.

Is it bad for me to like this episode...It is sad that it was the last episode filmed for the third season. Shatner had contacted a terrible flu during the filming of the episode.. They even had a cot for him to lay down between takes.

I thought the actress who played Lester was okay. I just wished she was more forceful...more spunk...I liked the scene in sickbay, where she is trying to cut the belt that is holding her down. She is using the broken glass from her drink....the way she looks, man that looked like Shatner/Kirk..trying to cut away...to get free..or how she walks like Kirk to the hearing....just like a man....

But, I agree...so many plot holes, and such stupidity about woman not being in charge of starship..But, perhaps, even if they had allowed it, I am not sure if Lester would have passed. She is mentally unstable..we all see that.....and obsessed.. She wants to be a starship captain, but not any captain...it has to be James Kirk...

And ..the relationship between Coleman and Lester...Does Coleman know what he is getting himself into...If their had worked, and Lester had killed..on the planet below...would Coleman accept the fact that his beloved is now a man.....at the end who do hear him say...You are as I loved you.....

And in the end they walk out of the scene.....nothing.....come on...don't you know she is faking it....come on...I wouldn't trust her..

thanks for letting me rant...

I was reading a review about that episode in a book. They said that Janice was delusional about women not having much of a position in Starfleet then, because they did. Also that they didn't show much about what it was like for them, especially Kirk, being in the body of the opposite gender. What I say is that it's natural to be intrigued by the opposite gender. So, would have been quite an experience. It also wouldn't have been easy for Kirk, being so macho. (Much like that film 'Switch'.) It is possible to occupy the body of e.g. the opposite gender like that, with astral projection, but is very difficult.

And, another word for 'macho' is 'femiphobia'. Also, at least in this modern western world, it's men who really need equality and liberation.
