I loved the continuity from The Big Goodbye. In one, the holodeck is basically broken, in the other, it's fixed. I always thought the Federation simply scaled up the design for the spacedock in the past 80 years.

The story was illogical, but it told us a little about the Bynars and their culture. They appear in some of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers books, I think.
