The animated series is worth the watch

Why have so many of the individual episode threads been locked?

I thought it a good idea to have one for each (given there are so few of them).

I love watching the animated Star Trek of course im 48 now I grew up watching all the series, I love them one and all

I was watching the annimated episodes, I think they were produced by the same people that did the She-ra/He-man episodes.  The animation is quite good as a lot of the cartoons I see on tv now is really bad.  The stories seem to incorporate concepts introduced in stories of the original Trek episodes.

How can this even be a question?  YES, for the love of Gene, it's another 22 Star Trek episodes with the orginal crew!

Oh, and the Bonaventure has not been invalidated.  Remember, the NX-01 Enterprise was not the first warp driven starship, it was the first warp five starship.  Big honking difference.

Heck yes! I found them to be a lot of fun. Yes the quality isn't the greatest. So what? The quality of the TOS episode isn't that great either, and it's still brilliant. Sit back and enjoy the ride, I say. Because hey, giant Spock clone.

The Phoenix never left the solar system, so it doesn't quite qualify as a starship.

Well I am just picking at hairs here, but I believe Scotty called it the first Earth ship to be equipped with Warp Drive. I'll have to watch the episode again tonight just to be sure.

And that's an interesting point. The Pheonix doesn't look like it was built for multiple flights, as I see no landing equipment. Still, there's no way to know just how much that little ship did.

To add another two cents to the Bonaventure debate, The ENT episode "First Flight' shows that before the NX-01 shipped out, the fastest Starfleet seemed to have was the Warp 2 fighters that Archer and Trip worked with on that episode. In terms of size and actual starships, ENT also shows before the NX class, Starfleet had some half-saucer ships that have been called the Intrepid-Type. Now, the NX Enterprise is a warp capable starship, so to say that the Bonaventure was the first, it would have had to come before Archer's ship, yet it is rather obvious by the pre-NX ships that we see, that Earth's Starfleet did not have the know-how, to make a ship of that size.

Take into account that Archer's Mission was the first of its type, as it is a plot point in the first season that Vulcans have opposed humans going "out there" I don't see how we can have such a big ship out there.

I'm not too sure TAS is actually worth watching, as the animation is pretty stiff and the design work is (at times) uninspired. You really kinda have to be in the right mindset...

But the novelizations by Alan Dean Foster? The Star Trek Logs? Good stuff!

I mean, the stories are solid.

I also saw the Time Trap yesterday to make sure and the way Scotty says it.....seems to imply first starship, but even so, ENT never mentioned any ships prior to the NX that suddenly disappeared named Bonaventure, yet it did mention the mission to Terra Nova and the mystery of Zefram Cochran. The Bonaventure should have come up in that scene.

If Scotty meant the first UFP ship with warp drive, one would think the newer NX class class ships, and even Enterprise herself would be part of the UFP's Starfleet from the very beginning. And it's kinda of hard to get "first UFP ship" from Scotty's dialogue.

If he meant first UFP ship to be built together by all the members of the UFP.......then there's room to accept it, but again, from hus actual dialogue, I doubt it.

I don't consider it canon, and the storylines aren't very good. you should give it a try though, you may have a different opinion.
