Windows XP didn't exist in 1987. So therefore Windows XP looks like Tasha Yar's funeral.

I said a bit sad because I cant really cry when watching TV. I think the character had potential but I see why Denise Crosby left. She wasnt getting a whole lot of screen time and being Bing Crosby's granddaughter, Im sure she would have done well in the movie business.

I was sad that they killed her off though

I also think Sela should have been in Nemesis. And I think she should have been more of a villian in the series where she'd pop up from time to time causing trouble for the Enterprise. Sort of like those 2 Klingon sisters did. Those two were finally killed off in the Generations movie.

>The only reason she was fired was for doing playboy I really liked her character although Worf seemed to fit into the job really well.

that's not true. The actress wanted a bigger part and left the show on her own becase she didn't have enough lines. Later on she realized she made a mistake and begged to be brought back..that's where Sela came from.

Kes wasn't forgotten either. She was mentioned here and there, and she came back in the 6th season for an episode

Denise Crosby definitely bailed too early.  Think about how lame Worf was in season 1. He got his ass kicked every week.  It's a shame too because Tasha could have grown into a really good multi dimensional character.

When she was killed, I was pertty indifferent about it. At that point in TNG the characters hadn't developed much so I wasn't really attached to any of them.  I really didn't even like Picard that much to be honest.  It didn't really get attached to anyone until season 3.

I think it's called the "McLean Stevenson Syndrome".

I often wonder if Michelle Forbes kicks herself for turning down DS9.

Forgotten like Kes???? I liked kes! I know realize it's one of my many callings in life to remember and appriciate 'the forgotten blonds of Trek' lol. Anyways about Tasha I liked the fact that TNG had a female cheif of security for time. My eyes did water during her funeral, they way the other characters spoke of  her and mourned her if felt so real like someone knew actually died. Although I didn't cry nearly as much as when Data died it felt like I had lost a long time friend rather then a aquaitence which is still sad.

Tasha was kind of a boring character for me. For a someone who supposedly had such a rough and tough childhood, she was such a flat character. To me, the only interesting thing about her was that she seduced Data. I did like it when we saw her again in season 3, though, and she was given a kind of alternate ending.

I really liked her character and when I first saw the episode I didn't really believe she was dead - it's Star Trek, remember - until the end of the episode.

I don't think, the character was flat. There just wasn't the opportunity to elaborate it in more detail. There never was a real Tasha-episode.

I always thought they talked too much about her growing up in that colony. It seemed like in every epsode she was prominent in they brought up her rough upbringing and those rape gangs.

Tasha was definitely not one of my favorite characters. She was annoying and didn’t seem to fit in with the rest. I was more happy than sad when she died. Also, the way they killed her off was stupid to me. An oil monster in the ground? Why not a big bad rain puddle?

I was very sad to see her die in "Skin of Evil", because I had a huge crush on her as a kid. She was very possibly my first crush on an actress on TV. But yes, she did thankfully make return appearances on the series, as alternate-Tasha in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and as her half-Romulan daughter Sela in "Redemption" and "Unification."

Also, I would not have minded it if Tasha had been bisexual. Somehow I can see that fitting her like a glove.

But oh well, Star Trek does not do regular or recurring characters who are openly gay,

That funeral scene was a masterpiece.
