Okay - I've heard this before, but am surprised the AP actually wrote an article on this.

Gee - government pays for empty flights.....  If there are passengers, they're only paying a small percentage while the taxpayers pick up the rest via subsidies.  And people can't figure out why we have so much debt?!?!

Crazy huh? Why don't we just make out our checks to an airline rather than the IRS.

This is what people go to Washington for nowadays, to bring home as much taxpayer money to their districts as possible.
