And if you're still not convinced, here's what some of our current members have to say about us:
"I've been part of Shadow Fleet for 4 years now, and i've enjoyed every second. The players, admins and organisation are all great." Master Chief Petty Officer Shelaf Greegy (Chief of the Boat, USS Discovery)
"I joined Shadow Fleet as something to do when I'm bored. Now I'm addicted!" Lieutenant Reece Thompson (Chief Sec/Tac Officer, USS Churchill)
"I have been a member of Shadow Fleet for almost five years now. I have experienced so much fun, having played a crewman to an admiral, and even a captian of a starship! No matter what I have done, it's been fun and I have made long-lasting frendships" Lieutenant Commander John Brown (Chief Sec/Tac Officer, USS Discovery)
"I joined Shadow Fleet five years ago, right at the very beginning. I didn't think I'd stay as I'd never role-played online before, but I quickly took to it and over the years I went from a security officer to fleet admiralty and an admin on the forums. Shadow Fleet is definitely unique." Rear Admiral (Lower Half) John Kawolsky (Task Group Commander, Task Force 10)

I play Reece Thompson on this site, I can vouch for it...
We are a fun and active community who enjoy talking to each other as much as we enjoy RP-ing.
You don't have to join the RP straight away... you can hang around for the community, and read some previous missions to get the flow of it.
Join up and check it out. You might like it.

Many changes have been made recently, to assure Shadow Fleet is one of the best on offer. We are still (and always will be) looking for new members to fill most positions across the fleet. Again, if you feel like taking a look around, take a look here: http://www.shadowfleet.org/forum

I would just like to bump this topic by saying;
Even if you aren't interested in the SIMM aspect, you can join our close knit community and simply talk to everyone, getting to know them or talking trek.

I have spent a considerable amount of time on this forum. . . *cough* 4 years *cough*
I have enjoyed this fleet very much, and it is much better than many I have seen. I have been RP'ing for almost 10 years now, and I enjoy the hell out of this fleet.
Good support staff, and ongoing missions that keep my attention, which for the record is not always easy.
I bow to no one.

And if you are perhaps only a casual Star Trek fan knowing a little bit about the series or if you want to improve your writing skills in a friendly community, we also offer the enlisted route of entry.
Once an application has been processed, enlisted players jump straight into a SIMM's mission, without any tests to answer, courses to do or essays to write. We still offer excellent opportunities for promotion as an enlisted player with the chance to gain forum moderation rights, but if you are primarily interested in the role-playing and community feeling, then the enlisted route is for you!

Greets.
I am Lieutenant John Terry of Shadow Fleet. I have been designated fleet, and recruitment officer for shadow fleet in startrek.com. I've only been on this particular site for less then a week now, but I have been able to see enough to say that I am very impressed. I have been a high ranking officer in two other RPG's in Xi fleet, and I can say that Shadow Fleet greatly tops anything that I saw there. It is the most well ballanced, and put together RPG forum I have ever seen.
When I first visited the site, I thought that I could register, and instantly become part of the action. I registered my name, and was instantly approached by one of the senior members of the group. He spoke about two ways that I could enter into the fray.
1. Enlisted crewman.
2. Commissioned officer.
I was a little warry of joining as an officer, as it involves a very detailed academy course. This course involves knowledge of both basic, and advanced Star Trek litterature. It took hard work on my part, but in a short period of time I was able to graduate from the academy, and because of how well I did, I was instantly promoted to Lieutenant.
There are a lot of opportunities as either crewman, or officer. At this time we are looking for more crewman, but will not turn down applications if you are looking to become a full officer.
If you have any questions, please PM me, and I will get back to you A.S.A.P.
Thank you,
Lieutenant John Terry

Acting Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Lance Krol has just won Post of the Month for October, 2011. Take a look at what he wrote:
Lance stared at a console, trying to remember how he'd gotten into this mess. He'd been at Starfleet for, what, a month? A month and a half?
The virus caused a few deaths, yes. Just because he fixed it, with help, he takes the place of one of those lives?
I'm supposed to fill in for a dead lieutenant. I don't even get the pips. It's like I'm just an Ensign+. And the other ensigns used to do what I ask as if I was normal. Now they snap to attention as if I could get them fired.
Could I get them fired? I don't know. All I do know is that all my friendships have been converted into respect. And respect isn't good for much without friends to show it off to. And I have no friends here.
Every time I tell a joke, every time I make a remark, they laugh, pat me on the back, and it's back to respect. Snap to attention, smile for your superiors, laugh at their jokes because you do NOT want to be the one guy an officer doesn't like on layoffs day.
God damn respect. It's like being sealed into a vault - you're rich, but you can't eat money. You're respected, but you can't stay sane on hero worship.
Maybe it would've been better if I'd let everyone die...
Krol wasn't happy. He'd lost all his friends, gained a few followers out of the junior ensigns, and he now had enough respect to choke a goddamn whale.
And now he was losing at chess, to a computer.
What a day.

Our post of the month this month goes to Taras Cadenza, for this excellent effort:
Taras looked at the odds. Five enemy ships. A nebula pocket. The chance of a nearby Pirate base. And the fact that his commander and the first officer both had their hands on his shoulders at some point in the previous minute. He folded his arms, eyes closed in thought. He thought for the best part of 5 seconds, but to him, it felt like 5 years. It was upon his skill, that the Churchill would either escape undamaged, or heavily damaged.
He thought back to the biographies of the trials and tribulations of the USS Voyager. 7 years, they had spent in the Delta Quadrant. An Intrepid-Class ship lost for 7 years without any friends, without any starbases for repair... without any materials. Confronted by the Borg, numerous times amongst other threats. And yet, numerous eye-witness reports found that the ship had arrived back with barely a scratch on its hull.
And yet, Mr. Thompson was questioning the ability of what an Intrepid-Class starship could do.
Taras' face contorted to form a wide grin as he turned to face the two, the beaming adrenaline flowing through his body, as he felt a powerful feeling surface. "Sirs... Never underestimate the Intrepid-Classes."
He clasped his hands together, his eyes softly intense. "I'll show you what we can really do."
