I'd just like to mention something. We shouldn't confuse Starfleet with the Federation. The Federation is a form of Government and societal organization and alliance with many different species; Starfleet is the military/exploratory arm of EARTH. So many people complain that the Federation is supposed to be comprised of all these different races and yet there are hadly any more than a few token non-humans serving in starfleet. Let's not forget that the Vulcans have THEIR OWN fleet. The Andorians have THEIR OWN fleet. The Tellarites have THEIR OWN fleet. I think that covers the founding worlds of the Federation. I don't even KNOW all the other member worlds, but I'm pretty sure most of them have their own fleets as well. What this means is that while I don't know how welcome a human would be serving on an Andorian or Vulcan ship, ANYONE is welcome to serve on a Human ship. Just thought I'd try to give you guys a little perspective.

Let's not forget that at least two Starfleet vessels - the USS Intrepid (TOS: "The Immunity Syndrone") and the USS T'Kumbra (DS9: "Take me out to the Holosuite") - had all-Vulcan crews.

Plus, we never saw any Andorian or Tellarite ships during the Dominion War.

Well Darqchylde, your perspective is wrong.

Member worlds do NOT have their own space navies. They integrate their armed forces into Starfleet when they join the UFP. The UFP is not like the UN or NATO. Member worlds turn over miitary duties to starfleet. They may keep a local militia and coast guard, but nothing more.

Mitchz's examples well illustrate this.

I thought the idea of an all Vulcan, or all anything crew, would be highly unlikely. It would be a terrible waste of time, resources and talent to go through and arrange a bunch of transfers, wait for the specific species with all of the necessary training, rank, and qualifications. Baring extreme environmental requirements a melting pot system of crewing a starship is the only efficient way to operate a vast fleet.

And Take Me Out to the Holosuite was an awful episode. Talk about leaning on stereotypes and bad writing.

yeah, I didn't like the lessons of Take me out to the Holosuite either.

As for the situation of the all Vulcan crew of the Intrepid, it makes sense to me.  Look, Vulcans are always bragging about how superior they are.  No doubt within Starfleet they complained about how humans made their ships inefficient.  So Starfleet experiments with an all Vulcan crw to see if there is anything to the Vulcans' complaints and to shut them up.  That test ended with vindication of Starlfeet principles of integrated crews.  The all Vulcan crew was killed by the space amoeba while the integrated Enterprise beat it, but would not have if not for having a Vulcan crew member.

Unfortunately, as we saw in DS9, some Vulcans never learned this leasson and kept their centuried old arrogance and failed to learn the lessons of either the Intrepid or the IDIC.

How can we hope to have an animated Star Trek as "good as" Clone Wars? I suppose we could use crappy, cheap looking CGI and have it be written by a drugged man-child in their basement ...
It has a succesful formula though. Four season is one more than TOS and twice as many as TAS.

This question got answered this weekend. It was a Captain you help earlier in the game, an Andorian, Shon I think it is.

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

IS the captain from the first mission still the Andorian Thalin, or did that change when it became free-to-play?

Commander Thalin was an ENG officer on the Khitomer (the ship you help save) in the tutorial mission. You never learn who the Khitomer's captain is, but the captain of "your" ship is the Denobulan Captain Qat'Anmek Taggert, who dies in the Borg attack along with the entire senior staff, leaving you in command by the end of the tutorial.

The only changes in the F2P launch was the opening cinematic (Nimoy's voiceover is still the same), the bridge map is different (originally it used the same "Standard Bridge" template that all new ships default to, now it uses the "Diplomacy Bridge" template that gets unlocked at level 40), and you now spawn in a different room based on your career (armory, engineering, or sickbay) instead of everyone starting in the rec room.

I just recently started playing but I'm pretty sure one of the little info blurbs in a load screen says Data is Captain of the Enterprise...

The Enterprise-E, yes. By 2409 (the year the game takes place) the E's been replaced by the Enterprise-F.

If you'd like to familiarize yourself with the games backstory, read http://www.stowiki.org/Accolade/Lore#Chapters. The "icon" lists the year being referenced.

Agreed with Broadstorm, let's give another of the federation species some face time.  I'd stay away from the Blue Men Group (Andorians, Bolians, Benzites) as they've seen some good facetime (in Shran, Mot, and Mendon, repectively), and go with a Tellarite, Grazerite, or perhaps a Corridan, if that species were given a rebirth similar to the Tellarites and Andorians in ENT.
